And she's definitely making less than the max per week?

Lots of armchair scientists in here, and no offense, but none of us have the answers. Not even the smartest scientists. They're all changing their stories day by day as they learn more.

So people in here should stop stating as fact things which are not.

Of course opinions are fine. But giving medical advice or stating things as facts when the facts are constantly changing is not doing anybody any good. Nothing wrong with linking to articles imo. I just think it's funny how some seem to talk like they have the answers.

We're still trying to figure it out. She may be making more with her 24 hours than the max, which is absurd because it's not like she's making a ton of money. This is impacting her big time. Her job is supposed to be switching her over to work share which her employer/human resources person said would solve the problem, but that was over 2 weeks ago and she hasn't heard anything more since. Some of her co-workers are in the same boat.

It seems if they cut her back another few hours she might have qualified, and she would have been collecting, but because she's working enough hours to hit that max, she gets nothing. Ridiculous.

But after summer passes and we go into fall in September, and as the weather becomes cooler again, we can expect a big second wave of COVID-19 then. We're predicting that the outbreak will be big in October and November, and we need to be ready for it.

- Are you sure the virus will come back?

I'm 80%-90% sure that we'll get another big outbreak in fall. That's because we don't have a vaccine right now. Unless we have an effective vaccine that is given to many people, the COVID-19 virus will keep coming back. And until 60% to 70% of people become immune which will give us herd immunity, it's not going to go away.

Unless you're a medical professional (and since you REFUSE to tell us what you do up there in Albany, we don't know), I'll go ahead and ignore any advice you may have for anyone.

Meanwhile, I just got off the phone with another friend who's recovering from it. Hellacious side effects and it really put him through the wringer. Oh...and btw Dr. Albany, he's 27.
Something that doesn't get much mention - is a lot of people who are listed as 'recovered' are still experiencing numerous issues months afterwards...

Yeah I listened to that part too. Not surprising that he attributes it due to the cooler weather.

Also pegs herd immunity at 60-70% which is what I've been seeing in other scientific papers.

Personally, in order to reduce the risk of infection as much as possible given the little additional effort and expense required, if you know, or suspect you may have to enter an environment where people are/will be bunched or close to one another, in addition to a mask, it can’t hurt to also wear safety glasses/googles which can be found pretty cheaply on the internet. I know of at least one teaching hospital that, for sake of patient and doctor, has taken the precaution of installing clear shields to their slit lamps (a device which is used to examine a patient’s eyes and measure IOP) - https://www.veo-ophthalmics.com/prod...m-shield-large

Given the highly contagious nature of this virus, there is nothing to say that virus-laden respiratory droplets in the air produced by someone infected couldn’t land on one’s conjunctiva and penetrate, so why not be as proactive as possible in reducing risk in order to prevent being hospitalized or worse –

NBC News Medical Contributor Speaks Out About Coronavirus Hospitalization | NBC Nightly News - YouTube

At the current time, PMIS (https://secure.jbs.elsevierhealth.co...sent?code=null ) is also believed to be rare; however, given potential consequences it can’t hurt for parents to be informed of its existence.
today’s follow-up

P.S.
I don’t consider safety glasses ‘a bridge too far’ for lay people with respect to the environment I outlined yesterday, what LordoftheRings posted on page 421, yes, that would be a bridge too far for the general community, safety glasses, no.

"We're predicting that the outbreak will be big in October and November, (November), and we need to be ready for it."

I bet people will be ready, in masses voting online.

* I posted an article I believe yesterday (or the day before?) on what Corona attacks in the human body...all the organs. It creates blood clots. It is extremely nasty...vicious and unforgiving.
And, the problems can remain for a long time (inside the body, and the brain).
That's for the survivors. The dead bodies I don't know; but I do know it's best to not leave them exposed, and @ some places they bury them in mass graves (large pits). In China? Perhaps burning a lot of them?

One of my closest friends works on air for a radio news station. He only works there part time so it's 2 days a week. I'm making more sitting at home than he is going to work.

He's super annoyed as well.

Does she make different money every week?

True, it's not an easy road to recovery.
I even think that you never fully recover from Corona.

Yep. There are people who lost their sense of smell/taste that still have problems well over a month later.

And then there's the kidney problems:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-h...-idUSKBN22Q0U7

Quote:
Over a third of patients treated for COVID-19 in a large New York medical system developed acute kidney injury, and nearly 15% required dialysis, U.S. researchers reported on Thursday.

So, yeah, everyone should totally go out and get it and be done because it's clearly NBD.

A) I wonder how long it would take to get that antibody test over here. Considering how badly we work with other countries, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes longer than it should. We should all be working together.

B) I had a physical years ago and the nurse called me to give the results. She said to me "you take a multivitamin, don't you?" I said "yeah. How could you tell?" She said "your levels were all perfect except for Vitamin D." That day I went out and got an extra supplement and have been taking it every day. Even before I heard that it might have something to do with this virus, I knew I wasn't getting outside as much anymore so I started taking 2 a day. I guess it can't hurt.

Well, we are making progress here in NM. This Saturday retail will be able to open with a 10% occupancy limit. Same limit for churches. Also open are liquor and cigar stores. All people are required to wear a mask when going out in public. Unfortunately dine-in restaurants will have to wait for sometime in June. We have already had a handful of them go belly up. I suspect many more will also close their doors for good before they are allowed to open.

Vitamin D is key. Wife has MS so she takes large doses daily. I take it as a supplement from roughly Oct - Mar. Get it the old fashioned way the rest of the time.

They're finding cases in the state of Washington that date all the way back to December. I wonder if it went any further back than that?
