I have severe doubts Planet Fitness is going to enforce the masks on entry rule at the gym I frequent. Rather annoying but I will continue to wear masks while I'm lifting and look into masks that are more suitable for running on the treadmill as well.

Wear a mask whenever you leave your property, it should be that simple.

Some people will only listen when you FORCE them to do so. I'm sorry, but people have to take this shit seriously. Just wear the goddamn mask!

COVID is really insane in Florida...I live in Miami and its the epicenter of the epicenter (Florida). The positivity rate in Miami Dade County ranges from 20%-25%...over 3,000 new cases just in Miami
Dade County were reported for yesterday.

I was banned too about a month ago. It was quite abrupt. Mods here don't warn, they ban. There's a reason why the title of this thread was changed. They don't kid around when they say no politics or social commentary.

Well I found the email address to report businesses for violating the no-masks rule. Better than nothing, I'll be sure to use it tomorrow if I go run on the treadmill and Planet Fitness still isn't requiring masks.

Gents, posts like this accomplish nothing. Despite what you think you may know, truth is you really don't, and it's best not to make these kinds of comments when a member is suspended. No long term member is arbitrarily banned here if they have been good members. Please just accept that some members here may have past histories on this site or made posts you know nothing about. Any further comments on this subject will be removed.

I am going to take this opportunity to please remind everyone about the warning embedded in the title of this thread. It was placed there for a reason. We tolerated a limited and respectful amount of political dialogue for a time because the corona virus and government actions leads inevitably to these kinds of discussions. However, as with many topics where some tolerance is shown at first, this leniency led to disrespect, bickering, name calling, vulgarity, and political soapboxing from some members. Those posts have been removed and mod cautions have been left here repeatedly, until it became necessary to insert a very noticeable warning in the thread title.

Just tone it down please and keep things respectful. That should not be something difficult to do. We are all in this mess together.

Stay safe everyone.

Just to add perspective, he's been banned from several other forums as well.

Now masks on. Lol.

It's no different from "No Shirt. No Shoes. No Service."

That's clearly what they're playing off of.

I'm not sure how the "masks" interpretation suddenly makes it "militaristic" unless you clearly have a preconceived issue with the mandate in the first place.

Lmao. All I'm saying is shop owners can be a LITTLE less intimidating with their signage.

I have seen some pretty aggressive signs like this one from a vintage thrift shop:

If you choose not
to wear a Mask,
we respectfully
ask that you
postpone your
visit.

We'll be happy to debate the efficacy of masks
with you when
this is all over
and you can come in

to sell your dead
grandmother's
clothes.

TL;DR
Masks required

When dealing with Joe and Jane Public its important to make the message clearly stated.

No Mask, No Service

No Mask, No Entrance

Can't get any clearer than that.

California just rolled back a lot of stuff. My county just reopened gyms and hair salons etc the same day they are now told to shut them down.

I guess you had like a 4 hour window to get a hair cut in the last 4 months .

I feel kind of bad for the stores at this point I do think they have been opening faster then they should but I think the government should be more transparent about when they are shutting down. Basically I wish they would give people like a weeks warning like if things continue to get worse we are going to close these things down next week.

Like if they react instantly when they get the data and shut down fast that is one thing but the numbers started spiking like two weeks ago they could have given places a heads up for where the red line is where they lock things down again or they could at least tell us we are probably going back into a lock down next week if things don't change.

The bold portion above could seriously be applied to virtually any city in the country right now!

This thread has actually helped me get some perspective in the past few days. I got into a negative funk on social media after indulging in outrage after outrage. This thread is informative and helpful -- an antidote to the outrage!

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Restaurant Association organized a peaceful protest Monday where hundreds of restaurants throughout the state were urging the governor to open indoor dining back up. Organizers said about 1,000 of the 3,500 restaurants across the state participated in the peaceful protest.

I don't think it will actually do anything because our governor cares more about making statements than she does about people but I didn't realize it was that big. I did show up at my work to be part of our protest.

LA just announced students will not be returning to classes this fall. This will probably set a precedent for other parts of the state unfortunately.

I got 3 notices from NMSU that some classes will be in-person, some classes will be online/in-person and some classes will be online this fall. I don't know why they're even bothering. I know my department head already said no online classes and unless they have better measures in place than I think they do, they're taking a massive risk. How is a class of 100 students in 1 room going to properly socially distance for an entire lecture?

I take it by that pic that social distancing was optional? Honestly I would rather be 6' from someone no masks, than 1-2' apart with masks like in that pic.

I agree, I think social distancing is a massive reason why we're in this mess. I think a lot of people think a mask and sanitizer are enough. You need to wear a mask, maintain at least 6 feet of distance and wash your hands frequently.
