I don't buy food at WM (not that it is important) but back in March/Apr when I tried on-line shopping for the first time it was extremely hard to get a delivery/pickup window during the week and I had to place my order ASAP, Now it is much easier. Early on, like most of us, stores were not well equipped for this, but at least here things have gotten much better. I would definitely not go with what happened in March/April and try it again.

I, myself, only got a test just a few weeks ago and I never would've gone for one if it hadn't been because my dad flew in from where he lives to visit me (against my wishes). There's a LOT of people out there who still don't believe the virus is real (viewers of FOX news, mostly) and refuse to wear masks. So if this is a mobilization, municipalities and local governments are doing something right for a change.
Yes, new cases every day. And it's not from increased testing driving up the numbers. It's more and more people getting sick and going to get tested and coming back positive.

Well this hasn't been mentioned for awhile...but I believe most of the world is now dealing with the virus strain that has been shown to be much more infectious than the original strain that hit China and neighbouring countries. Couple that with pandemic fatigue and colder weather driving people inside...

If that's the case, then I'm in complete amazement at how the infection rate has gotten as high as it is today! We are 8 months into this pandemic and things have gotten worse instead of better. I guess we're completely deadlocked on a solution other than hoping that the vaccine will completely solve this. Though at this point, I'm not optimistic that it will and this may be worse, much worse, than the Spanish Flu!

Good.

Counties aren't enforcing it, which makes it pointless. A few select cities like Costa Mesa are enforcing it with "education" and not arrests, which also makes it pointless.

Gavy Newsom picked a heckuva time to get caught at the French Laundry dining with people from outside his family without a mask. And California state legislators picked a heckuva time to get caught after flying to Hawaii for a conference held by a lobbying firm. All of those hypocrites can pound sand.

Dollar Tree is empty. Maybe 2 other people besides us. OK - get what we need (LOL and what we want) and schlep the packages out to the car.
I kinda missed you not running into the ‘Fat Cow with an Attitude’ again as I liked that story.

like with Eli Lilly's bamlanivimab –

Regeneron monoclonals Casirivimab and imdevimab now (as of yesterday) received FDA EUA.

If you, your parents or grandparents develop mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19, but do not need to be hospitalized nor need O2 and fit one or more of the criteria for being at high risk -

I would strongly recommend you go on record and ask the ER physician about Eli Lilly’s or Regeneron’s monoclonals and consider the infusion. Remember there is a very narrow window as to them being effective so one can’t procrastinate. This could be a life saving measure until we get the vaccines.

Addendum: bring money, lots of money.

A full treatment of the Eli Lilly or Regeneron with a 20% copay out of pocket runs $2,500 to $10,000, with up to five full rounds.

No insurance? Up to $125,000

NPR - Government Signs Deal For COVID-19 Treatments From Eli Lilly

Unless you can snag one of the first 300,000 rounds of very low subsidized cost doses (see article).

I’m not sure if it’s been reported yet, but my wife informs me that just recently Medicare and Medicaid have agreed to cover bamlanivilab, hopefully Regeneron’s monoclonals will follow as well as private insurance companies covering the cost too, so that shouldn’t be a barrier to getting it.

Please. Just. Stop.

This is utterly ridiculous.

The state with the highest percent of infections is North Dakota at just under 9% of the population. North Dakota has a bit over three-quarters of a million people. That is still a frighteningly high percentage but nowhere near your silly exaggeration.

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/testing/testing-positivity

Perhaps I’m missing something. I believe our governor uses that source to announce the current infection rates. As you can see, Wyoming is currently at 51%.

Quote:
Wyoming 51.00%
South Dakota 46.30%
Iowa 45.01%
Idaho 42.25%
Kansas 33.32%
Quite staggering numbers if you ask me.... Or am I misunderstanding something?

Infection rate: positives / population of state
Positivity rate: positives / people who tested

How are you an accountant?

Apparently the entire island of Puerto Rico is infected...

Those are sad numbers, but I suspect the high positivity rate (not infection rate) is due to low numbers of testing.

I understand it’s the latter. There’s no way we can test the whole population. Still, those percentages are very disturbing, even if they’re just based on a sample.

Apparently, it has not been reported - https://www.cms.gov/
however, I can assure folks that CMS has agreed to covering bamlanivilab. The wife also informs that there are more than 100 different monoclonals approved for oncology, rheumatology, etc. and that they tend to be some of the safest therapeutics there are.

P.S.
In terms of humane protective effect, your area, Marin County, received 59 doses of bamlanivimab and is expected to receive a similar allocation, if not more, depending on hospitalizations, this week and at a regular cadence moving forward.

I want whatever drugs Dr. Tam and co.are taking to come up with irresponsible fear mongering figures of potentially reaching 60000 daily cases in the country of Canada. That's a 12-15x multiplier based on current record days.

If all goes well; those 2 vaccines before the FDA should get approval in Mid-Dec.

That doesn't take away the fact that Penton-Man had lost his brother in law to Covid-19. My sympathy goes out to your friends & family. May he RIP.
In the U.K., it’s looking like the first vaccines will happen in December. It’s going to be chaotic and I don’t know if I’m included. I work in social care but I would imagine NHS staff and care home workers would be first. (It needs clarification).
