Default Film Noir recommendations?

Looking into film noir this month. Other than Double Indemnity, any other suggestions?

On Blu-ray? Well, I would definitely check out The Maltese Falcon. It's one of my favorite movies and a terrific film overall.

Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt I guess could also be considered film noir. It was Hitchcock's favorite of all the films he made. Notorious could also be considered film noir. At the end of the day, both great films regardless.

Laura is also a great film noir worth checking out. Knockout score by David Raksin.

Ministry of Fear is a neat film noir available via Criterion with Ray Milland.

The Lady From Shanghai is a great film noir from none other than Orson Welles. A must see.

Kiss Me Deadly. It might be the ultimate film noir movie.

I absolutely love Kubrick's The Killing. It's actually my favorite Stanley Kubrick film.

Sweet Smell Of Success has great performances from Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis. Another must see.

Touch of Evil from Orson Welles is a great latter day film noir. Highly recommended.

Best recommendation I can give is pick up a copy of Eddie Muller's book Dark City: The Lost World Of Film Noir. It's an enjoyable read that makes an excellent introduction to noir and its sub-genres.

Yes, The Third Man is noir. My favorite in fact.

I believe some of Fritz Lang's early works, like M and the Mabuse films, also qualify most of the way and would be great recommendations.

Can't remember, was On the Waterfront considered noir? That should be a must-see too.

If neo-noir is allowed, then Se7en, Memento, Fight Club, Brick, Pi, and Bound should all be must-sees too. I personally prefer these over the classics.

First one I was going to recommend was Double Indemnity.

I haven't seen as much film noir as I'd like, but I second the mentions of Kiss Me Deadly and especially The Maltese Falcon, which is my favorite.

How have we gone to 13 posts an not mentioned The Third Man, some of the finest film noir cinematography going, heck one of the greatest shot films full stop.

Other than that I second:

Double Indemnity
The Maltese Falcon
The Big Sleep
Touch of Evil
Brick
The Big Lebowski
Se7en
Fight Club

And add:

Blade Runner
Barton Fink
L.A. Confidential
Sunset Boulevard
Zodiac
The Naked City
The Killers (1946)
The Double (2014)

Oh yes The Third Man. Shame on me for not mentioning that one! And Sunset Boulevard as well...

I'm waiting for The Great Owl to chime in. I'm sure he'll have great picks!

Blast of Silence (1962). Not only my favorite noir, but one of my all-time favorite films, period.

Dark City (1998): Sci-fi, but definitely has elements of noir.

The Thirteenth Floor (199?): Also sci-fi, with noir elements...

Try 14 hours with Richard Basehart. Very underrated but excellent film noir.

A classic that has not yet been mentioned: The Postman Always Rings Twice. And even though it has a soap opera quality to it, try Mildred Pierce.

More Neo-noir: The Coen brothers' Blood Simple and One False Move by Carl Franklin

And after you have seen some classics, check out Steve Martin's comedic homage, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.
