This Gun for Hire is Universal right? That should be top priority!

We don't know yet if the deal excludes titles previously released on DVD, so there are so many possibilities (a few of these are noir adjacent):

You and Me (1938)
The Monster and the Girl (1941)
This Gun For Hire (1942)
The Glass Key (1942)
Phantom Lady (1944)
Lady on a Train (1945)
The Blue Dahlia (1946)
Black Angel (1946)
Smooth as Silk (1946)
Kiss the Blood off My Hands (1948)
So Evil My Love (1948)
A Woman's Vengeance (1948)
The Accused (1949)
The Big Clock (1949)
Criss Cross (1949)
Undertow (1949)
The Sleeping City (1950)
Woman in Hiding (1950)
Hollywood Story (1951)
Female on the Beach (1955)
The Price of Fear (1956)
The Unguarded Moment (1956)
The Tattered Dress (1957)
The Female Animal (1958)
Portrait in Black (1960)

The Public Eye (1992) would also be a nice get.

Not really film noir but Douglas Sirk's There's Always Tomorrow could use an upgrade.
DVD is Universal Vault Series which I believe is MOD.

Money burns a hole in my pocket for blurays of THERE'S ALWAYS TOMORROW and THE TARNISHED ANGELS. Both films are noirish even if they're not strictly noir. The monocrhomatic designs and patterns that Sirk puts in front of the camera -- like the floor tiles and the furniture -- are some kind of noir.

I got the Koch Media German Blu-ray of The Big Clock and it looks great. It really is a terrific film and things get quite tense there as it goes along.

There’s an MoC release of The Tarnished Angels (probably can get it for $10 or so from Amazon UK).

In the Kino Lorber thread, Insider ran down the long list of Univeral noirs, and after eliminating most of them, stated that only two of the following:

Abandoned (1949)
The Accused (1949)
Kiss the Blood off my Hands (1948)
The Sleeping City (1950)
Undertow (1949)
Woman in Hiding (1950)

were available to them, and are in the pipeline. I hope Kiss the Blood Off My Hands is one of them.

My guess is Woman in Hiding is one. Arrow better have This Gun For Hire then in the UK.

Woman in Hiding already has a nice-looking 1080p transfer available, so that probably makes it more likely.

Also, here's the quote from KLI that unfortunately eliminates a lot of upper-tier noirs:

Quote:
We asked for The Big Clock, Black Angel, The Blue Dahlia, Criss Cross, The Glass Key, The Lost Weekend, Phantom Lady and This Gun For Hire and none were available to us.

Already imported the Arrow copies of The Blue Dahlia and The Glass Key, but getting This Gun For Hire would be awesome since it has no release yet.

More Veronica Lake.

All it means is a better label most likely has access to them.
Hoping for Criterion on most of those, but would also be excited for Arrow.

Got all excited for Phantom Lady then and then saw it wasn't going to be made available to them.

I know it needs some work but I'm hoping someone picks it up. If it appears my side of the ocean it may be that PH/Indicator can nab it.

Yeah between Arrow, Indicator and even Signal One we should hopefully see Phantom Lady and some other top tiers sooner than later. Got to be region free these days though I tell ya.

We may all have to live with our DVD's of This Gun For Hire and Phantom Lady for awhile yet, since Kino Lorber couldn't get them and Universal has not announced any plans for them.

I see that Woman In Hiding was released by TCM on DVD-R. The synopsis sounds familiar. If I saw it was a long time ago. But I'm very interested now after all I've been reading.
