Most definitely the regular wide release version. There's a reason the pre-release version had major reshoots. It's an interesting curiosity/variation, but the main release is the classic film that earned it that status.

The regular theatrical version for the win.

The reshoots for the theatrical version add some smolderingly sexy Lauren Bacall/Humphrey Bogart scenes, at minimal or no expense (in my opinion) to the original narrative. The iconic theatrical version is where it's at.

I just want to point out that DVDBeaver gives M and Woman In The Window not very favorable reviews, so buy at our own risk.

That car scene in Detour when Ann Savage wakes up is etched in my memory, that felt so brutal for a scene which is really just someone waking up and starting to talk.

Was just told by a seller on eBay that a 4k restoration of Detour is in the works.

In all seriousness, though, that would be pretty great. Detour is in the top five of my most desired movies to be released on Blu-ray someday.

I'm sure this has been shared over and over, but I found it interesting, especially the screen shots.

Has everybody who ordered Criss Cross from JB-HiFi received their copies already? Mine shipped 23 days ago and I still haven't received it yet. I've ordered from there several times and it has never taken more than 2 weeks to arrive. I'm getting rather worried.

Criterion just put out their latest newsletter clue, and I am 110% confident in saying it's for The Breaking Point (1950), directed by Michael Curtiz, and starring John Garfield. The Breaking Point was one of several Warner titles that all went OOP at the same time. So far, each and every one of those has been released by Criterion, including Kurosawa's Dreams, Cat People, The Asphalt Jungle, and many others. The Breaking Point is just one of 4 titles left on that list, Klute, The Magnificent Ambersons, and A Face in the Crowd being the others.

I received Criss Cross yesterday, and Another Man's Poison today. This should be a fun weekend!

Her Coral Chandler in Dead Reckoning is as brutal as she is beautiful. We need more of Bogart's Columbia films on Blu-ray.

Would appreciate a short write up on Criss Cross when you have a chance to compare it to the dvd, Owl.

Criss Cross and The Day of the Jackal were shipped March 7th, but have not arrived.

All four of these could really use a blu-ray upgrade. I'm hoping that The Magnificent Ambersons will finally get its due, and that this isn't just yet another instance of WB forgetting about it.

Everything that list has come out via Criteiron, so the other 4 should come this year too hopefully (they are doing at least 1 WB title a month atm).

Hope you folks do not mind this post here, but was considering taking in a viewing of A Sweet Smell of Success tonight (probably my favorite Criterion release), but before I did thought it would be nice if these two lps found the turntable for an early morning spin. The Elmer Bernstein platter has some of my all time favorite movie jazz and the Chico Hamilton Quintet efforts are terrific. Even the likes of Shelly Manne on drums and I believe THE Johnny Williams on piano are found here. And those Decca covers! Can't beat 'em.
