For those that missed out on the Four Film Noir Classics box set, on Arrow Films product page, it still says "sold out" at the top, but the availability icon claims that it's "in stock". You can even add the box set to your cart. It looks like they have a few left.

I received my order from the Classic Flix sale today. I'm glad I bought T-Men, He Walked By Night, and Raw Deal separately instead of waiting for that Alton collection which comes out next month. The booklets, artwork, features, and overall package is well worth it.

I think I'm most surprised that Gun Crazy, Criss Cross (and to a lesser extent Detour) haven't received US Blu-Ray releases yet. I've seen all three during film fest screenings packed with people, there's been so much ink bled over them in publications, and in forums like this one they're constantly getting referenced.

That persistent buzz coupled with the fact that GC and CC have received foreign releases, makes them no-brainers, at least in my mind. Although I'll concede Detour may be a tough ask, given that the copy I watched was in pretty rough shape; it may need more restoration work than anyone's willing to spend on a public domain film.

Beyond my personal pick of Nightmare Alley, my runners-up are Black Angel, Phantom Lady, DOA, and The Big Clock. But now thanks to all of you, my list has expanded to several other flicks that weren't even on my radar. In particular, The Sniper, Born to Kill, and The Narrow Margin sound right up my (nightmare) alley.
I would like to see Fallen Angel get a blu-ray release.

I'd like a US blu release of The Window 1949, featuring an extraordinary performance from 12 year old Bobby Driscoll as a boy who witnesses a murder and can't get anyone to believe him.....except the killers. I'm in the UK and I suspect there's little chance here. I have a very good dvd (LE 2000 copies) released in 2012, which is still available.

Failing that, I'd probably, maybe, just about make do with a 'bells and whistles' Arrow Academy release of This Gun For Hire 1942, to match the already released The Blue Dahlia and The Glass Key. They like Ladd and Lake

I have the DVD. And while it's nice that that release is available, and thanks for sharing the link, but as soon as I bought a player and that release, Kino or some other label would release a restored version.

I do need to get a region free player though.

The BFI set uses the same HD telecine masters as the DVDs. That master looks fine for Where the Sidewalk Ends, but not so much for either Fallen Angel or especially Whirlpool.

Twilight Time has both in the US and is supposedly waiting on Fox to remaster them.

I have the TT release of Where the Sidewalk Ends, and I've been waiting for their release of Fallen Angel. Never seen Whirlpool.

Just wanted to point out that Criss Cross received a Blu-ray release in France earlier in February. And from Elephant Films, a reputable company.

Criss Cross also has a fine region-free release from Australia.

It's a bare bones affair, but the transfer looks good.

And you can get it dirt cheap right now from Deep Discount who has it for $12.59 before applying the 15% off code AMORE

I got mine from them about a month or two ago, and it came with a slipcover too.

I'll also back the Australian release of Criss Cross, which I recently got from Deep Discount (along with Road Games, another Aussie import) for cheap. Thanks to the fine members of this forum for the heads up.

Criss Cross looks great and is a top-shelf noir.

Just a heads-up to everyone: Criterion is doing a 50% off sale on in-stock Blu-Rays (and DVDs) until the 14th at noon EST. Just use the promo code GOLD.

Unfortunately, it looks like their recently released Elevator to the Gallows won't count as it's on backorder, but there's still a lot of excellent noir, neo-noir and/or noir stained options: The Killers, Night and the City, The Asphalt Jungle, The Killing, Kiss Me Deadly, Anatomy of a Murder, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, The Killing of A Chinese Bookie, Diabolique, and Rififi to name some of the highlights.

This is a great release from Criterion for film noir fans. I noticed Moonrise on Eddie Muller's Tops 25 list, which is the first time I had heard of it. Was tempted to order a bootleg-looking copy from ebay.

I just watched This World, Then the Fireworks and I wonder if that shouldn’t be classified as a neo-noir.

I read about this last night, and I thought it was pretty cool. Jordan Peele, of Get Out fame, was tasked with directing a fashion photo shoot for W Magazine. It's titled "Noir Town", and features the beautiful Janelle Monáe as the detective. There's some really incredible photos here, and I think any noir (and Hitch) fan will get a kick out of them.

Quote:
Janelle Monáe Stars in "Noir Town," Directed by Jordan Peele

The scene: A private investigator is standing in a clock tower taking photographs of a parade. She is a woman, played by Janelle Monáe, and she is searching for clues to a murder. As the detective stares through the lens, she begins to realize that one of the bystanders on the ground looks exactly like her. Then she sees another identical face. And another. Suddenly, the sea of potential suspects are visions of herself. Are these women good? Are they evil? And why are these twinlike alter egos haunting her? “I wanted to create a Hitchcock moment that doesn’t really exist in a Hitchcock film,” explained Jordan Peele, the 39-year-old writer and director of Get Out, which has been widely acclaimed as one of the best movies of 2017. Peele, who was standing on the fourth floor of the abandoned Palace movie theater in downtown Los Angeles, had constructed a scenario that paid homage to the mystery and intrigue of Hitchcock masterpieces like Vertigo and Psycho. Just as Get Out is Peele’s subverted and original take on unsettling classics like Rosemary’s Baby and The Stepford Wives, “Noir Town” replaces Hitchcock’s uniformly white protagonists with a woman of color.
