I saw Detour via the German dvd a year or so ago (I believe this is the best version available PQ wise), it looked pretty good to me, certainly not unwatchable.

You can watch I Walk Alone online for free. I just did and found it ok but not as good as a top tier Noir. It's on m.ok.ru. Google the title and search vids. That OK site has a ton of old movies.

I haven't seen "I Walk Alone" in years and years but remember it being more of a gangster movie than true film noir?

Also, heard from Amazon Canada... The Alton set is selling very well so they couldn't fulfill the pre-orders. Quite annoying.

While this is understandably annoying for you personally, this is good news for noir fans. Noir selling well on Blu-ray means we are likely to get more noir released on Blu-ray.

Gladly! We're in the golden age of movie collecting. All the old titles appearing on blu-ray in the last few years has been incredible.

One very underrated noir that I'd like to have on bluray is "Storm Warning" from Warner Bros. in 1951. Appeared in the Ronald Reagan DVD box set years ago but I think it deserves more attention. Back when they thought that movies could change the world... Warner takes a nice bite out of the Klan in this one.

The opening ten minutes or so with Ginger Rogers arriving in town is one my very favourite sequences in noir.
