Either today or tomorrow I'll watch the interview with Eddie Muller as I missed that on Thursday.
Yeah, got 37/40 and I'm also happy to get a cerificate. It was a fun couple months watching the videos and taking the quizzes. I still have quite a few movies I DVR'd that I haven't watched yet, so my Summer of Darkness is not yet over.

I'm going to miss the Investigating Film Noir course, I had a great time learning about the intersection of influences that lead to these films. Prof. Edwards' interview of Eddie Muller on YouTube was very informative, I highly recommend watching/listening if you enjoyed Eddie's pre- and post-film commentaries during TCM's Summer of Darkness:

Anyone get the Warner Archive Film Noir DVD's that came out a couple of months ago (RiffRaff, Two O'Clock Courage, Johnny Angel...)?

For those that care, Coleen Gray has passed away, she was the last surviving cast member of what I consider to be the greatest noir "The Killing"

So sad. I was just watching Coleen Gray the other day in Hell's Five Hours, an excellent "not-quite-noir" that was just released on Blu-ray by Olive Films.

Coleen Gray was also great in Kansas City Confidential, Nightmare Alley, Kiss of Death, and Red River.

I just saw this as well, my wife sent me the article. It's sad to think how we'll never see such great noir films like these again. I know we have modern day films that re amazing, but something about this era of film that is gets to the core.... the actors and films will be missed.

Cover art and details for the Otto Preminger Collection (UK / BFI)

Fallen Angel

Film noir, a classic film style of the '40s and '50s, is noted for its dark themes, stark camera angles and high-contract lighting. Comprising many of Hollywood's finest films, film noir tells realistic stories about crime, mystery, femmes fatales and moral conflict.

June Mills (Alice Faye) and her sister Clara live a quiet life in a small coastal town until Eric Stanton (Dan Andrews), a smooth-talking con man, comes into their lives. He seems to fall heard for June, but Clara believes he's interested only in the family fortune. Meanwhile, sultry waitress Stella (Linda Darnell) catches Stanton's fancy and thinks he might be her ticket out of town. The local cop (Charles Bickford) knows more than he's telling about his fellow citizens and their tangles relationships, which draw even tighter after a shocking murder. Starring Alice Faye, Dana Andrews, and Linda Darnell.

Whirlpool

A woman secretly suffering from kleptomania is hypnotized in an effort to cure her condition. Soon afterwards, she is found at the scene of a murder with no memory of how she got there and seemingly no way to prove her innocence. Starring Gene Tierney, Richard Conte, and José Ferrer.

Where the Sidewalk Ends

In this hard-hitting mystery drama, Mark Dixon is a cop who loathes hoodlums so much that he's demoted for slugging suspects. On a murder case, even though he suspects a hood named Tommy Scalise, he loses his temper and kills another suspect. He then falls in love with that man's widow, but stands by as her father is charged with the murder. Ultimately, Dixon realizes he must find a way to clear the older man without implicating himself. Starring Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney, and Gary Merrill.

Special Features:
  • Audio Commentaries on all three films by critic Adrian Martin
  • The Guardian Lecture: Otto Preminger interviewed by Joan Bakewell (audio only)
  • Original trailer

Two obvious classics that if you don't love you might as well stop here: Double Indemnity, Out of the Past

Have people actually received a certificate? ... or just expecting to get one some time in the future? Just asking because I completed the course, but haven't been notified about a certificate yet. Thanks.

I haven't received my certificate yet, nor any sort of notification about one. Assuming it's a physical, mailed certificate, I'm expecting it to take some time before it arrives given the number of students who enrolled in the course.

I've yet to get any notification of getting my certificate. I honestly have no idea if it'll be a physical one or if we'll just get a PDF or something.

I was wondering about the certificate for the TCM Film Noir course as well. I'm assuming that we'll be notified shortly. I'm also assuming that it will be through email, since I cannot remember entering any physical address information during registration (and I've changed my address this past month).

I believe I read that it'll take a little bit of time to process and verify the results, before they email the certificates out.

I've had some personal issues to deal with so I put off finishing the course to the deadline (as in 10:34 PM last night lol), and I didn't read every single assigned article in the last module or two, but to my surprise I got 40/40 on the final on my first try. I got 20/20 on all the quizzes except the last, which I got 19/20. It's been a really great course, and I've learned quite a bit from it. I was very pleased to see they had over 20,000 enrollees. That's just awesome.

A digital certificate definitely makes more sense for a free online course, especially one of this size.
