So you never dream about stuff that doesn't happen to you? Not the most common kind of dreaming but it does happen.

Besides, it was an
[Show spoiler] international flight. You're quite secluded until you get to the point where Leo met up with his father.

I think they explained around that.
[Show spoiler]There were plenty of shots where the dreamer isn't entirely present. The dreamer creates the space, but those in the space can freely interact with each other and the space without the dreamer being present. In fact, in the opening sequence, they are in Arthur's dream, Arthur gets shot and wakes up, but it doesn't end the dream for Cobb or Saito.

[Show spoiler]I think the way they ended the movie with the image of the spinning top was an indication that it doesn't matter, you aren't supposed to know what is real, you are supposed to question what is real. (I also think that all the people in the theater that smirked and groaned at the ending both times I watched it, failed a basic intelligence test.) It's like the dream-room attendant in Mombasa said: "they do not come here to dream, they come here to be woken up. For them the dream is reality... who are you to say otherwise?" For Cobb, going home is both his dream, and his reality. Remember when Ariadne snoops into his dream, and he explains what is going on? He says: "these are memories that I have to change, so I can go home, to the real world." It's classic Nolan misdirection: he gives you just enough to make you try to guess the answers to all the wrong questions, only to find at the end that you were barking up the wrong tree.

I hate the obsession with loud surround sound in theaters. I just got done watching Inception for the third time and I swear the surround speakers were louder than the center channel, meaning a lot of the dialogue was completely drowned out by various sound effects and music in the surround channels. Part of this is a problem with the sound mixing itself, but part of it is the lazy theater itself too. I had this exact same issue when I went to see Terminator Salvation last year at this particular theater. You would think in the age of home theater that these nitwits would figure out that loudness doesn't necessarily impress moviegoers. I want to be able to hear what the characters are saying more than anything else including explosions or music. Turn up the center channel or drastically turn down the surround channels, please. It's not much to ask for.

Has anyone else had this same problem?
I agree... There's a couple theaters that I will not go to anymore because their sound is AWFUL. I think most theaters just use stereo surround so that its loud for everyone, instead of what all of us here would prefer (actual surround). You also have to figure that the "general public" would b***h like crazy if the rear and side speakers are not used for every scene.

This movie now has the second most votes in Foggy's ranking thread.

Iron Man 2 leads it by 65 votes.

For those questioning the sound... IMAX is the way to go. Saw this movie twice, once IMAX, and like all other films I experienced, it's better to just spend that extra few bucks

Oh yeah... INCEPTION is probably my favorite movie of all time. Wish I had that Blu copy

Thanks for the link. I knew the score was fantastic, but I should have recognized Marr's unique sound in the mix - brilliant choice.

BTW, did anyone notice Marr giving the finger when Zimmer interrupts him during the interview; the smirk afterward is priceless.

By the way, I found this link by subscribing to the Inception Facebook page. There's a lot of cool info on it.

Before the potential flaming begins: Yes, I did 'get' the movie. I rated it 2 stars. I didn't loathe it. I was just disappointed.

I thought my brain was going to be stimulated, soaked with a deep philosophical analyzation about dreams, tampering with human emotions, etc., then put through a wringer & left out to dry as Nolan stomps all over it mind-numbing Hitchcockian twists and turns.....making me want to talk for weeks on end with friends about it.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Yes, it is visually stunning. However, the overall story was a bit weak and the acting was 'wooden'. I felt like I was sedated while viewing. Maybe his brother should have helped write the script? Idk?

I'll give it a 2nd chance when it hits home video, as I do with most movies I don't initially enjoy in a theater.....but as for now.....that's all I have to say about Inception.

I thought it was OK. I liked it, but thats about as far as I can go.

Technically perfect and the entire cast was fantastic.

It wasnt TOO complicated. However, it felt like it was told in a complicated fashion for the sake of being complcated, not because the story itself was complicated. Some films are interesting because the story complicated. Inception took a simple story and complicated it in an effort to make it interesting. That didnt work for me. I never felt sucked in.

Also, I felt like the teams actions were over explained a little bit, which left me less curious and intrigued. I knew too much, too soon, too easily.

Beautiful to look at, fast paced, well acted, incredible score (Zimmer ), nicely shot and edited action scenes, but just Meh overall.

3/5
I think SquidPuppet hit it on the head, for those of us that thought is was good but not great. I couldnt really connect with the characters somehow, I walked out meh. Did enjoy the concept though.

I havent really seen the movie but I have to agree with that from what I have seen so far from trailers, and review posts.
If a movie is too complicated, I think thats just wrong.

P.S Anyways, if 58 people gave it four stars, than its definitely not a mastrepiece or timeless classic like TDK or The Matrix.

IMO it's the first timeless classic in more than a year.

And complicated movies are awesome! Case in point: David Lynch movies. Movies that actually stimulate your brain instead of just numbing it.
