Somebody has to be the supervisor, right?

Don't forget the very first dream sequence, too: Nash (Lukas Haas) stays behind in the "Saito's Lovenest" dream, and supervises Cobb and Arthur while they are down in the next level, in the "Saito's Fortress" dream, even while the projections are rioting in the street outside looking for him.

It's my favorite film ever. Totally awesome. It's kind of difficult to be understood but that's what makes it great.

Wow, just wow. Said the kid who liked Ramona And Beezus, Despicable Me, and Toy Story 3. Why did they hire an 11-year old to do movie reviews? Inception was smart, original, and action-packed, and in my opinion one of the best films of the year so far and a potential Best Picture nominee.

And now you're trying to impose your theories onto the internal logic of the film, and hold the movie at fault because it doesn't line-up to your theories. You have actually moved on from saying we are wrong, to saying that Nolan is wrong about his own movie! Unbelievable!

Word and +1. Why fault Nolan for the fact that you misinterpreted what you saw? It's not his fault you embarrassed yourself by getting over-invested on the wrong side of an argument.
Dude... you need to chill the hell out. You are on the verge of slinging personal insults at me and I don't appreciate it. I'm not saying that Nolan is wrong about his own film. I have repeatedly offered my statements as logical arguements based on THE FACTS presented within the film. So please stop talking down to me.

THE FACT remains that if you and Buddy Christ are correct and Cobb & Ariadne do not physically link the dream machine to Fischer in order to find him in limbo, then there is no way in hell that Ariadne & Fischer would go back to the hospital/fortress level. Also, Cobb would not continue in limbo to find Saito. All three would wake up directly on the plane. Ariadne & Fischer as they fall/jump off of the building in limbo and Cobb from dying of his wounds received by Mal. SINCE THEY ARE FREELY LOST IN LIMBO FROM FALLING ASLEEP AND NOT LINKED TO FISCHER (according to you), their deaths would send them straight to reality. So, there is a major flaw of design based on that little detail about Cobb & Ariadne not physically linking the dream machine to Fischer.

Regardless, I do not appreciate you treating me in this fashion. This entire debate was meant to be point-counterpoint and you have gone beyond that. At no point did I start belittling you for your "contributions" to the discussion, no matter how incorrect that I may have found them to be. So grow up and take the emotional onslaught out of the thread.

P.S. I'm not even remotely close to having embarassed myself. In fact, I'm quite proud of the depth of understanding I have for the conceptual workings of Nolan's psychological methods used within the film. That is why I see such a small oversight on his part having such a drastic effect on the outcome of the events in the end of the film. So, don't even try to impose any adjectives onto my personal disposition with regards to this debate. Doing so won't make others who read this take your side.

I FINALLY saw Inception yesterday at an Imax theater. I must say...that i really enjoyed this movie! I didn't miss a beat...followed it all the way to the end....and my opinion is that if the movie was 3 seconds longer that the top would have fell!! I believe that he WAS back in the "real world" In my opinion... I think that he kept the top as a "Momento" (no pun intended) of his wife. I believe that HIS token was his wedding ring. I say this because i noticed that he only wore it in his dreams!!! Whenever they were back in reality...he never had it on! And this includes the ending when he went back to his house and saw his kids...HIS RING WAS NOT ON!!!!

5 out of 5 for me!!!!!

I said that about the ring and I got grief because he never achnowledges his finger, I still think it was his Ring that was his totem.

Right there you've revealed your personal "disposition": you got so wrapped up in your "pride in your depth of understanding", that you took it as a personal offense that someone would correct you, and got emotionally wrapped-up in "proving" that you are right and others are wrong. Where facts got away from you, you presumed to put upon others with your drawn-out theorizing, as if having more to say made you right, (you should get into politics or law, where you can jawbone your way to "winning"); and your comment about "taking sides" shows me that I was right that you no longer care about making your case to me or anybody who thinks you're wrong, you are just performing for an imagined audience because you are afraid that somebody else might also notice that you are wrong... and you say I need to grow up.

I can see where this is going to go, I think you're both going to have to stop before mods get involved.

It's just some little snot reading a script that was given to him by his wise-arse daddy, who thought he could prove a point that "if even an 11-year-old thinks it's dumb, then it must be dumb". It's a cheap and worn-out media stunt that I've seen repeated many times.

Did you watch the video, the 11 year old says it's too complicated for him, not dumb.

But I don't think that I'm wrong. I know that I am right. Your arguement would suggest that Ariadne, Fischer, and Cobb should all have woken up in the plane much sooner than they did. The fact remains that once in limbo a person is lost. There is no way that any kick would be able to bring them back. The only way out of limbo is to kill oneself and that leads to superceding any/all levels kicks and waking in the real world. Now, in that case, I can buy Fischer waking in the hospital level since his dream corpse was revived via the defibrelator. But, Ariadne and Cobb should have clearly woken in the plane. Ariadne should not have be able to ride the kick ladder back. And Cobb could only have stayed in limbo to look for Saito if he survived his wounds, which I will admit is possible. But, that now raised a big fat "IF" because what made him end up face first in the ocean?

With my theory, everything that happens makes 100%, in your face, absolute sense. Your theory (and Nolan's small detail mistake - if it actually is the case) leaves some pretty huge plausibility holes in the film. I don't care if anyone takes my side. I just want to establish some clarity here. And, you and Buddy Christ are providing information that, if I find factual, undermines the integrity of the first 2 hours of the film.

...Undermines your understanding of the film. And it doesn't matter if you "find it factual", it's not up to you. It's not your movie. Your theory is not the measure of what does and does not make sense.

Stop trying to extrapolate theories out of what I'm saying, I've presented no theories. Cobb and Ariadne do not hook into Fischer at the Hospital Base. Fischer died and is already in Limbo. Ariadne comes up with the idea that using the machine at that place will drop them into Limbo. Saito dies at the Hospital Base, thus also dropping into Limbo. Cobb presumes that Saito has died and dropped into Limbo, so he stays behind to find him.

All the rest is coming from you. It's all your rules and your theories. Nobody else is bound to those but you. You are overcomplicating everything, and I suspect certain motives for that.

Then "dumb" is a poorly chosen word. Still, it's an old trick, staging a child to give that kind of critique.

Kalbrain vs MJbethancourt

So far I have MJ winning. Interesting debate you two are having. I'm with MJ, who are we to "establish" what is factual and non factual in this movie? That's what's so great about this movie, the moment that Nolan leaves that top spinning in the end everything and I mean everything in this film is open to questioning and interpretation.
