[Show spoiler]True, he also had time down there to rebuild his empire, well at least his palace and he was obviously somewhat resigned to his fate when Dom Cobb showed up/

Certainly an entertaining film and well-directed but FAR from the deep masterpiece that people all over this site proclaim it to be. I enjoyed the attempt at complexity and think it was a very interesting idea, but those that think this is a mind-bender haven't seen enough films. I give it 3 1/2 (out of 4) based on the entertainment value, directing, score, and attempt at doing something intelligent. I deduct points for it trying to be smarter than it really is.

I have to say I was excited to see Inception before I actually saw it, now I just shake my head and wonder why I even listen to people anymore when they recommend a movie.

It was decent at best, sure as hell wasn't the "masterpiece" all the Nolan c**k gobblers claim it is. I get why teenagers and juvenile minded people think it is so deep but really it's poorly written, characters are so underdeveloped that I didn't give a rat's ass about any of them the entire movie. At one point I looked over at my girlfriend and asked if we could just turn it off, but we finished it. After the initial viewing I was told by many that in order to really get it I had to see it twice, I'm not sure what there was to get that I didn't grasp the first time and the second viewing ended about an hour in. The movie just isn't all that good. Will not be watching it again and will likely sell it in the coming days.

I should have known though, the praise for this movie mainly comes from the same sect of the population who think a Batman movie is the greatest film ever made. What a joke. I hope it gets shut out at the award shows.

The main problems with this movie are the obnoxious exposition and the lack of gradation in the dream levels. It's a little condescending on the viewer, repeating stuff a couple of times to make sure we get the point. And placing the boring snow level after the cool hotel level is a downright bad decision. Apparently someone decided they need moar action. Too bad.

Nolan, the director is cold and intellectual, he has no heart. He doesn't love his characters. No wonder the viewer doesn't like them too.

Just watched it last night. Does it bother anybody else that
[Show spoiler] the entire time changes doesn't stay consistent? For example the Van rolling and the fight in the building with the rolling affecting it, seems like one ratio for the time scale but then when the Van is jumping off the bridge the scale of time from one level to the next completely changes and the difference of the time ratio is vastly increased?

I think you need to see it again.lol Every time they go down a dream level, the time goes by slower. The lower they go, the more time they have. everything was happening while the van was falling. Thats why they have to time the "kicks" in order to get back. I'm not sure if this makes sense, its hard to explain.

I enjoyed it, thought it was pretty slick. But wasn't blown away by any means. I am not a big fan of Nolan's Batman films either. Of his films, I think I enjoyed Memento the most.

I do love Ellen Page though.

Are you friggin' serious? Were you "watching the film" with a member of the opposite sex? THAT might explain why you weren't paying attention.

Each dream level has an exponentially elevated subconscious time frame. So, the deeper they go, the more active their minds are, the more they can technically experience within the time frame of their sleeping level directly below. Much like how, in our lives, we can experience an entire day or even an entire week in the span of less than 5 hours of dreaming (we don't dream until approx 3 hours into our natural sleep cycle) each night.

Did you pay attention to his post, he said why was the van turning over happen over the course of a min or 2 in layer 2, while the van falling of the bridge went on for much much much longer.

I completely understood that. 5 minutes in real time is 1 hour in the dream (and of a course a dream within a dream, which is why Leo and his wife had an insane amount of time to create in the lower layer) The concept is as simple as can be, what I don't get is why is the ratio so different between the two different scenes? Is it just a major oversight by the writers or is there a reason for it?

Thanks! Exactly Foggy! Yeah, I was talking about the van rolling (layer 1) and the time ratio in relation to the scene in the building (layer 2). The time ratio from layer 1 to layer 2 in this scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvDba2nMv_U

The time ratio is far different than the ratio of Layer 1 to Layer 2 when the van is jumping off the bridge (which is well beyond just 2 minutes, unlike the youtube scene above).

I was just wondering if there was some reason that I may have missed as to why the ratio is so completely different or if it just a massive oversight on the writers just so they can make a cool fight scene in the hallway?

Each level down time is extended - the extended time of the van falling was reprensative of the lowest levels time difference.

Down in level 3 and in limbo - those couple of seconds were drawn out into many minutes.

The hallway fight happens for about 2 mins while the van flips over, yet when the van goes over the bridge, Auther is stuck in zero gravity for much longer than 2 mins. Why did it take so long for the van to land in the water when the van rolled completly over within 2 mins on the 2nd layer.

I think it was just either a major oversight or they figured, "hey it makes the scene work, lets hope nobody is actually paying attention to the rules we set earlier on the ratio of time from one level to the next"

They probably just thought it would make for a cool scene, so just went with it.

True, it was a pretty sweet scene I was almost expecting Hugo Weaving to show up

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but it makes me want to actually see Snow Dogs. Someone should hire the guy who cut this trailer. Check out this trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjUMZrN8-YU

I love Inception, but I completely agree with these points.

Before watching it, I had people telling me how "complicated" and "deep" it was, when it really wasn't.

A lot of people also claimed this was a film which required multiple viewings - Myself and I'm sure many others understood it perfectly fine upon first viewing.
