Do you have it already?

lol. Speaking of Why So Serious. I've been trying to find my Dark Knight soundtrack for months and still can't find it. Sucks.

Was blown away by this movie...went to the midnight premiere. The movie lasts 2h30 and it didn't feel like it. If you are a Nolan fan go see it asap. All the actors are brilliant.

I was going to ask this. Did anybody feel like it was 2 1/2 hours? With the help of the score it felt like an hour.

OK I have seen it

TWICE

You have a lot to look forward to the second time.

First, although you understood it the first time, the second time you will understand more and notice a lot more details now that YOU KNOW.

Second, you become more emotionally attached to the characters now that you already KNOW them.

Just as good the second time but just in a different way!

Visual wise this movie has taken (it seems to be) from Dark City, 2001 Space Odyssey, Singing in the Rain

Going to take my dad to see it tomorrow. I first have to tell him the story. I know he won't get it and if I give him the basics of it he'll understand it and enjoy it more. He'll love it for the action and the SOUND! He's been upgrading his home theater. He's supose to get a 60in tv soon to go along with his new B&W's and bad ass Onkyo Reciever

To those who haven't seen it you have to basically pay close attention to everything they're saying. They tell you every little detail of whats going on but they say it so fast and throw a bunch out there at one time you might have a brain fart and forget.

debating going to see this in about an hour, i hate seeing movies in a crowded theater is this movie really big like TDK was? i wasnt sure if this was a movie that many people were flocking to see or if it was mostly genre fans.
what were the crowds like?

Inception

Christopher Nolan is on his way to being the greatest director living today. In terms of scope, this is easily the biggest film he's ever done. Yes, it even surpasses The Dark Knight. When the Academy announces its Best Director nominees in January Nolan absolutely deserves a spot. I really haven't seen anything quite like this before. I returned to my house at 3 this morning but couldn't really find myself falling asleep. I was too wired thinking about what I just witnessed. Even when I woke up this morning I immediately started rethinking everything about the film. There are very few films that stick in my mind like Inception.

The story is carefully crafted. Nolan worked on the script for 10 years and the end result is a story that encourages you to think. I couldn't find any holes in the story or any alarming shortcomings. Hearing some of the reviews for this film, a lot of people claimed they didn't understand the film at all. I find this quite difficult as I clearly understood the story in one watch. I'm convinced the reviewers simply did not pay attention to the film. While I feel the film requires you to push your thinking, I hardly feel that only a person of high IQ could understand it.

Acting all around is superb. Granted, with a cast that includes DiCaprio, Watanabe, Gordon-Levitt, Cotillard, Murphy, Page, and Hardy it is hard to go wrong. Standouts for me personally are DiCaprio, Cotillard, Watanabe, Murphy and Hardy. Nothing against Ellen Page or Joseph Gordon-Levitt but I don't quite feel they commanded the screen as much as the other actors.
[Show spoiler]I didn't feel these two had anything emotional at stake. You could argue that Hardy didn't either, but he presented his character extremely well. Cotillard only graces the screen in short spurts but the entire emotional center of the film completely depends on her, and she knocks the part out of the park.
I may be a little bias because Cillian Murphy is one of my favorite actors of this generation, but his takes his role and makes a unique presentation of it. Nolan loves Murphy too, after DiCaprio was cast Murphy was sent a script and Nolan said he could pick any part in the film he wanted. The cast is top-notch and there shouldn't be any worries going into the film.

There are little touches that really make this film work. When we dream we have non sequitur. Ever have a dream where you could be somewhere and then all of the sudden you see something that absolutely doesn't belong? These little touches are present while at the same time having a double meaning.

I didn't want to discuss too much of the story in my review. I feel that it is best left to you when you actually witness the film. I don't hand off 5 star ratings often, in fact I didn't give any 2009 release films a 5 star but I feel like this film deserves it.

5/5

Inception pulled down $3 million at midnight, apparently.

Yeah didn't think it was going to be big. I think it won't have a big drop the 2nd week. The word of mouth will start.

Everything is good at first, we were 2nd in line and waited for 3 hours. But once it got to 12:06 and no movie was playing, the manager comes out and says “The movie isn't playing, give us 10 minutes. Blame Canada, the prints are from Toronto.” He disappears, then reappears later and says that they were on the phone with the IMAX people, scrambling to get the IMAX projector to work. He then proceeded to tell everyone that the film may not play, and gave everyone free tickets (stay if you can wait, or go). A few minutes later, he then said that the IMAX projector would not be fixed and that they would play the film in another theater just for us. We all move, and get slightly lesser seats, and not in the IMAX format. But I waited 3 hours, I wanted to see Inception. Period.

I can definitely say that Inception is my favorite film this year. It is extremely fascinating and interesting. When they explain the science behind mind theft, it seems plausible. The action scenes are real set-pieces. I was overwhelmed by the plot at your first viewing. It is very dense and with many layers. Inception requires a lot more brain power from the viewer than your average film. Also, I was in wonder how they shot some scenes, like
[Show spoiler]how they made the hotel floor have zero-gravity.

Christopher Nolan will finally get his “Oscar” calling with Inception. If he doesn't, it will be because not many people on the Academy understood Inception.

I will use my free ticket to see it again on its 2nd or 3rd weekend. I don't want to wait in “another” line this weekend!

4/5

I know I have to go see it again. The film was fairly easy to follow and I had it figured out within the first two scenes. It was a perfect blend of Memento & Dark Knight (Mind blower + Blockbuster). IMO it definitely doesn't take as much thinking as Memento. This was pretty straight forward and anyone over the age of 14 should be able to keep up if you just pay attention.

[Show spoiler]I have no problem with the ending. The top clearly starts tilting and slowing down as if it's going to stop spinning, and I believe Nolan is telling us Leo is back in reality and it's a happy ending. The whole movie will blow your mind, so I think he cuts the film before the top falls over to just toy with you. I thought the ending was perfect. It's good when a film leaves you thinking and wondering to draw your own conclusion.

Yes, I loved how Nolan handled the dreams. I could relate very easily and I'd imagine many people can relate that's why I didn't find it too challenging to keep up.

I knew it didn't do THAT well last night, which is why I was so surprised to see such a long line coming out of the building to get into the showing when I went to see it.

i'm kinda shocked to see this sitting at 76 on good 'ol metacritic when everyone on here is raving about it. i think i saw one 3/5 and one 4.5/5 otherwise the rest have all been 10/10, 5/5, 12/10, 15/10, 11/10's and whatnot.

of course, professional reviewers rarely know what the hell they're talking about so it shouldn't come as any surprise they give a bad a score. but some scores are like 25/100! seems like a love it or hate it film...
