However, I will say the movie was surprisingly easy to follow.
I agree. It was easy to follow. The option you listed which you are leaning towards just countermands the integrity of the entire plot in my eyes. Nolan isn't the type of director that undermines his own work. Everthing he does has depth, purpose, and meaning. He wouldn't dismiss all of the great thematic elements of his film by making it that oversimplified.

Oh man, can't wait to see this. Aside from Insomnia, I've liked every Nolan movie I have seen so far. I'm also interested to see if it can make it's budget back given it was so expensive.

So, wonder what the porn parody will be? Contraception? Conception? I needed a laugh

Yeah actually this movie was so good and I like Memento a lot more now so I will actually buy Insomnia for $15 or less and hope it grows on me.

[Show spoiler]So who else is going to see this again or has already gone a second time? Not sure how much I like it or if it's my favourite movie of the year to date but it was really good.

Best review ever there, guy. You put it so simply and yet made your point really well. I think it will win Oscars for - Effects, Cinematography, score and best actor.

So go see it, unless you just can't. I actually heard a little applause when the credits rolled, which you don't see a lot of these days. Still not sure why people applaud, it's not like the people who made the movie can hear them.

I went alone and that's the way I like it. Nobody to talk in your ear during the movie, nobody to wait on to use the bathroom before or after the movie and no one to wait on when you want to leave the theatre after the movie ends.

Cool. Maybe I might as well just go alone.

Hopefully when I get back I can tell people I know that its a great movie and they are missing out.

Peter Travers' review -
[Show spoiler]
Quote:
The mind-blowing movie event of the summer arrives just in time to hold back the flow of Hollywood sputum that's been sliming the multiplex. Inception, written and directed by the visionary Christopher Nolan, will be called many things, starting with James Bond Meets "The Matrix." You can feel the vibe of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner in it, and Nolan's own Memento and The Dark Knight. But Inception glows with a blue-flame intensity all its own. Nolan creates a dream world that he wants us to fill with our own secrets. I can't think of a better goal for any filmmaker. Of course, trusting the intelligence of the audience can cost Nolan at the box office. We're so used to being treated like idiots. How to cope with a grand-scale sci-fi epic, shot in six countries at a reported cost of $160 million, that turns your head around six ways from Sunday? Dive in and drive yourself crazy, that's how.

Peter Travers reviews Inception in his weekly video series, "At the Movies With Peter Travers."

That's what happens to Dom Cobb, a professional invader of the subconscious played with action-star ferocity and emotional heft by Leonardo DiCaprio. Corporations, like the one run by Mr. Saito (Ken Watanabe), hire Dom and his crew to get inside people's heads. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as Arthur, and Tom Hardy, as Eames, are hilarious and scary-smart as grown-up gamers playing with life and death at Dom's command. Did you know that getting killed in a dream is the best way to wake up? They do. Ellen Page's Ariadne is the newcomer on the team, a student who learns as she goes, just like the audience. "Whose subconscious are we in now, exactly?" she asks at one point. You may feel her pain.

Peter Travers picks the season's can't-miss films and the ones with a bad vibe in his summer movie preview.

Dom's new job of head-case espionage, the one he claims will be his last, involves more than extracting info from the subconscious of Fischer (Cillian Murphy), the son of a dying industrialist. It requires Dom to plant an idea into Fischer's dreams. That's inception, baby, and it's a killer. The job also stirs up dangerous memories in Dom of Mal (Marion Cotillard), the wife and mother of his two children, a mystery woman (and, oh, man, can Cotillard exude seductive mystery) whom Dom literally can't get out of his head.

Get more news, reviews and interviews from Peter Travers on The Travers Take.

I'll say no more, except that Inception rewards the attention it demands. The visuals, shot by the gifted Wally Pfister on locations from the steaming heat of Morocco to the snow-capped Alps, are astounding. One segment, in which a freight train barrels through a traffic-clogged street, is jaw-dropping. Just as impressive is the way Nolan stays true to the rules of his own brain-teasing game. The film's demonstration of the three levels of dreaming is certain to inspire deep-dish discourse to rival the Lost finale. But anyone who's ever been lost in the layers of a video game will have no trouble rising to Nolan's invigorating challenge to dig out. Dom claims that the "most resilient parasite" is "an idea." In this wildly ingenious chess game, grandmaster Nolan plants ideas in our heads that disturb and dazzle. The result is a knockout. But be warned: Inception dreams big. How cool is that?

Damn this movie blew my mind. I had chills leaving the theater and had a hard time texting. Amazing piece of work by Nolan. That guy will one day be regarded as one of the all time greats.

Catching it again tomorrow too. This will be the first time I've seen a movie in the theater twice since Jurassic Park!

Wow. Just Wow.

For me at least, this is going to be one of those movies that I could watch a million times and find something new each time. I've still only seen it the one time and just by letting it marinate, it's getting better. Of course, I'm going to go watch it again tomorrow, hopefully with better audio. And I'll shell out the extra $8 for the D-Box. I was quite envious looking at those dudes in their chairs during the hallways scene.

As far as stories go, I've always regarded Crichton's Sphere as being the epitome of mind-blowing creativity. But this? How does Nolan come up with this stuff? This is just insane. That being said, I still haven't decided how much I like this movie, if at all. But there's certainly an appreciation.

Inception has seemed to have brought an honest thought to the cinematic realm of ideas. A movie that does not have to present a solid human emotion that so many films have achieved before, and rightfully so, but begged to present a new process of looking at, and being with, an experience we will always remember. Maybe because it is the first film to delve into the deepest part of our psyche yet to be discovered ~Jim Conine Cinema Reviews

[Show spoiler]It's entirely possible that Ellen's character was actually his father in disguise. His father introduces her to him but they could've easily had his father pretend to be her, I mean he taught his son all that stuff and that one guy does convince Murphy's character he's someone else.

Credit for this idea goes to a guy I chat with on AIM.

I wish CJackson would post about why he gave it one star. I'm curious if he's just trolling or legit reasons why he didn't like it when everyone so far seems to have loved it.
