This is a brainy movie, you can't leave your brain at doors as any blockbuster movies. |

This movie was inspired by a lot, The Matrix, Blade Runner, 2001, Dark City, James Bond, the list is endless.

Could win best scenario though. The Academy hates Nolan, The Prestige(which is better in everything than Inception IMO) got nothing, TDK got nothing(almost) and Memento got almost nothing. Batman Begins was nominated for some awards like the scoring. And one question I keep asking myself: Why did Avatar won a lot of Academy Awards where's TDK have won almost nothing? Intriguing judges they have, but who the hell gives credits to the Academy nowadays? Last edited by Versatil; 07-17-2010 at 06:19 AM. |

Its all good. I absolutely need a second viewing of the movie becasue so many concepts were thrown at you that, (at least for me), I couldn't grasp all of them fast enough. Therefore I think people should just enjoy the movie and see it a second time if you can. I hope its going to be an excellent BLu-Ray release with a lot of extras and maybe a alternate ending.

its hard to compare these two movies because they are very much different in many ways, however if we are comparing i enjoyed Inception much more.. I enjoyed Levitts and Leos performance much more then bales and Jackman

JUST GOT HOME FROM 2nd VIEWING IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS WITHOUT SLEEPING IN BETWEEN! MY MIND IS AWASH WITH IDEAS!

[Show spoiler] So... basically... what Buddy Christ said... As for Versatil... I unequivocally disagree with you. I think that a lot of people are missing the real point of the story. Upon my second viewing I paid VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to the ending ( [Show spoiler] ). And here's what I discovered:[Show spoiler] So, with all that laid out, here's what I think Nolan honestly has done with the ending. HE HAS MADE A DEFINITIVE STATEMENT WITH THE LAST SHOT! HE DOESN'T LEAVE IT OPEN FOR INTERPRETATION! And here is why... [Show spoiler] Holy crow... I can't believe that I may go see this again for a 3rd time in 3 days! Came back from a packed 9:30 showing, that theater was silent the entire em and everyone seemed glued to the screen. Haven't seen that here in a LONG time...and overall I found the movie to be amazing...simply great. Chris Nolan is a legend now and I can add this to my top 3 Movies of all time hands down without a doubt. Now the waiting game for the Blu Ray which I hope comes loaded with special features on how they did everything in the movie

Just got back and sad to say i HATED it. 2-1/2 hours and nothing really happened. No characterizations whatsoever - Page, Gordon-Levitt, Caine, Murphy are wasted, they are given virtually no identity - and DiCaprio, while solid, is playing the same role he did in Shutter Island, even with a similar back story. The effects were cool, but all the good shots were already revealed in the trailer... meh. Nolan still hasn't convinced me he knows how to tell a story. With the exception of Batman Begins and The Prestige, he always comes up goose eggs for me. Just like Memento, viewers are thinking they are seeing something "intelligent," but in reality, when you break it down, nothing really happens. Mulholland Drive is a great movie about dreams and dream logic; this one, not at all.
And I've never seen a film where 95% of the dialogue is all exposition, the same exposition over and over and over. we get it, its a dream... a dream within a dream, etc. Maybe if he had channeled some of that exposition into the theories and ideas he put forth... instead of making every scene a shootout/chase that all looked the same. A huge letdown. |
