Oddly I'm also pretty sure it made his top 5 list for 2010.

What else was I to put on it? Summer 2010 has not been good.

Petra, it's hard for me to feel something for a guy who is a mind-rapist. I might feel a bit sad for Fischer but that is hard too since he is born with a silver spoon in his bum. As for Ariadne, ughh, she was the exposition tool in the movie. She didn't feel like a character.

My main problem with the movie is that it did not make an emotional connection. This seems to be a problem only I had so I'm starting to wonder if I just went into it in a wrong mood or expecting too much. Maybe a second viewing would make me feel different, when I'm not trying to figure out too much what's happening.
I also had a problem with Zimmer's score which I thought was loud and oppressive. I couldn't hear what Saito said in some scenes especially when he is on the carpet, but again maybe that is just because he was mumbling.

Well, it's not that I'm trying to change peoples opinion of the film. I'm trying to explain the deeper intentions that I have experienced about the film. I'm getting the sense that those who enjoyed the film but missed out on some key points are gaining valuable "next viewing improvement" advice from my observations. And those who flat out say it's bad for reasons A & B? I'm just trying to enlighten them about the details that they may have misinterpreted.

It really is a fantastic film experience when viewed properly.

I just made myself with that comment. "...when viewed properly."

That is THE WORST reason to judge a film as "terrible."

I'm so confused now...I'd never a give a movie I considered terrible a 3. Hey Sheeraz, did you really think it was terrible or are you just tired of people claiming it's just the best movie ever? If you don't mind me asking

Thank you sheeraz. It is from Hiroshima Mon Amour, a French New Wave film by Alain Resnais. One of the best films I have ever seen. I highly recommend it. You won't regret it!

That doesn't make it terrible, it just makes it over-hyped and means people are overdoing it with hyperbole.

Paprika is one of my top 10 favorite films. It really nails the dream aspect that Inception failed to incorporate (as I mentioned earlier in this post).

I tired looking for a difference but I couldn't make out the 65 mm parts of this movie. Although in my case I think I couldn't tell the difference between the 35 mm and the 65 mm was that the Imax I went to wasn't a true Imax theater, it was just those Imax screens that AMC has. The screen is much larger from their regular screens and the audio was amazing but I don't think their projectors can truly display the increased resolution of the 65 mm prints. From what I saw, they had to digital projectors aimed at the screen showing the movie, I'm not sure if that is how a real Imax theater does it as I haven't been in an Imax theater since 1999. The only other explanation I can think of is that the 35 mm print was very well enhanced by the Imax DMR process and the two sides seamlessly merged together. Either way the $4 premium was worth it for the larger screen, digital projection and impressive audio.

though i dont think the wife was "Much Needed" she kind of added a few boring things to the movie

but overall the movie is as good as the fans agree on!
[Show spoiler] I honestly thought that her character added another great dimension to the story, it also added a good amount of suspense. It would have been disappointing for me if ihis wife was stuck in the dream world and he had to get her out, but the role his wife was given really worked well imo.

I adore Paprika but honestly don't know if they could capture so much of the essence of dreaming like Paprika did in a live-action film, even with today's technology.

I agree it was pretty stupid of me. I still gave it three stars though.

Yeah I thought that too. If they made Paprika with the actors in this movie, the budget could easily top $300m. Seeing inception makes me want to see Paprika again though. What an awesome soundtrack that movie had!

I still would have appreciated if the dreams in Inception would have not been so logical and some laws of physics been bent. I understand that it is partly because the dreams are taking place in spaces designed specifically by architects, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't be doing wacky stuff inside those spaces.

[Show spoiler]I don't know, random trains coming out of nowhere and trying to run people over, not to mention the stunts they pulled off in the action sequences. Honestly if you want those kinds of dreams, just watch Alice in Wonderland or something.

In Inception, it's only ever 1 persons dream. And, given the mission, to do anything "wacky" would give themselves up as intruders, which would alert their target of the truth, provoke the projections to attack, and collapse the dream on itself. Also, their targets wouldn't be doing anything "wacky" either because the dream world always seems so real. Even if you are dreaming and things get a bit crazy, you usually have some logical way of explaining that within the context of the dream. So, without reason to do so, the unsuspecting dreamer wouldn't think to do anything "wacky." That is why the dreams are designed to be the least "wacky" as possible. To not give the unsuspecting dreamer reason to step away from the boundaries of reality. And, the intruders (Cobb & his team) just can't do anything "wacky" for risk of losing the stability of their targets dream and ruining the mission.

I agree, specially the ending begged for a Kubrick-esque touch (2001: A Space Odyssey), something that would have taken the moviegoer completely out of the movie and forced them to be spectators of this magnificent dream world. Instead, Nolan kept us involved until the end, and therefore I am forced to attempt to unravel and understand what it all means.

Just my opinion.

Damn... trying to keep up with this thread AND play Heavy Rain at the same time is extremely difficult!

EDIT: But, I'm just starting to feel the effects of the whiskey. So... that should help.
