Don't remember either.
[Show spoiler]Not sure if he is Cobbs dad or Mals dad. All I know is that he's the Grandfather of there kids and taught Cobb everything he knew.

I swear I'll get off of here.

Caught a 5:10 showing today Absolutely WONDERFUL. I know I'm still on the "high" of just seeing a really great new movie, but I would rank this as being every bit as good, if not better than TDK. Chris Nolan succeeded in absolutely blowing my freaking mind....I love reading all the chit chat about the ending, but in the end:
[Show spoiler]I think that's exactly what Chris Nolan wants to happen

The twist in the movie
[Show spoiler]about Cobb using inception on his wife
blew me out of the effing water compared the the twist in The Prestige which I saw coming from the opening 5 minutes. Action scenes were top notch, story was breathtaking, scenery was UNREAL (especially when Ellen Page makes the city fold). 10/10.

Best movie of the year by a long shot. I've seen hundreds of movies in my life (probably more ) but to be honest, Inception ranks in my top 3. This is why I still have faith in the movies my friends!

I thought this was a terrific FILM (not necessarily a movie as much). It makes you think the whole time, but it didn't entertain me the way I thought it would (for being the #3 top rated movie according to IMDB).

I prefer other Sci-Fi thrillers to this movie (Dark City, Blade Runner, etc), but this movie was great none the less, very technically well made and awesome. It's just not in my favorites for being a Sci-Fi geek, and I don't really want to sit through it again for quite awhile (I was twiddling my thumbs during the second half). I agree that some parts resemble sections of the Dark Knight that are just overly long and tedious, but that's Nolan's style.

8/10 for me.

Yeah, agreed. I wouldn't necessarily say that it lacks a "payoff" of any kind (there's probably a zillion payoffs in the meaning of the movie and how stuff gets revealed) but as far as the substance goes, there's no epic fighting or anything like that to be had. This is why I prefer the movies like Dark City (awesome end fight), Blade Runner (awesome human vs machine fight while encompassing human nature) and The Matrix (awesome end fight), and all of these listed movies support the heavy philosophy thinking of dream worlds/altered realities, memories of what's true/fake but have epic action to really send thrills down your spine as well. I felt that Inception was missing these spine chilling action events which is what makes these other movies so completely awesome. To this day, I still get chills when John Murdoch in Dark City awakes in the gyro chair and regains his memories...starts doing things with his mind (while also having an awesome smirk on his face that just yells "haha, I am powerful and I will kill you").

I didn't get any of those chills from watching Inception, but I understood what most of what it was trying to say and such. As mentioned, the plot seems complex at first, but it's actually really simple and I just didn't find it overly amazing to be a Sci-Fi classic by any means.

As mentioned before (movie philosophy)- movies keep you entertained, and films make you think. People going in to see 2001 and expecting it to be like a movie will be disappointed, even though they should be flat out amazed once they consider that it's trying to be a film and not so much a movie (the entertainment comes from the thinking, and not from the action). Dark City and the Matrix are perfect hybrids as they do both to an incredible level of allowing the audience to think and interpret events while also seeing some kick ass action. Blade Runner I would classify more of a "film" (and quite possibly the staple Sci-Fi film and I would actually consider this probably the greatest technical artistic movie ever made). Inception is more of a "film", but it SLIGHTLY lacks the "movie" aspect that would have made it better. However, I applaud the work of Christopher Nolan because this is still creative and original work with a great soundtrack (very Dark Knight-esque) and cinematography (expect The Dark Knight). However, I do question whether it should remain #3 at IMDB, because I certainly don't think it's anything of epic proportions to the contribution of Science Fiction, especially when compared to the Sci-Fi greats.

It will make you think though. It didn't have the long lasting thinking effects with me as it does with others that I watched it with though.

I liked it. Did I think it was "OMG ITS THE BEST MOVIE EVAR!!!111!!" level of good? No. But it was good.

The entire cast did a very strong job. No one did a bad job, they all played their roles quite well. Leo was the best imo. Yea yea, he's the star so a lot of people are going to say that. But I legitimately thought he did the best job of everyone in the movie.

The visual effects of the film were superb, the stunts during the
[Show spoiler]no gravity in the hotel level
were great.

I loved the super slow shots throughout the movie, they looked incredible.

I thought the score complimented the film really well. Not as good as Zimmer's score for Batman Begins/The Dark Knight, but still really good. Nice and powerful but never overbearing.

As for the movie itself. Like I said it was good, and I enjoyed it. But it wasn't 5-Star good for me.

I didn't have any problems with the story, the acting, filming, effects, anything really, but like the guys said a little bit up from this, it was just missing that "something" to make it a 5/5 for me.

I was hoping to feel inspired to write a really long review of the film with my take on it when I got back from seeing it like I did with Iron Man 2...but after seeing it I don't feel the urge to do so strangely enough.

I'm going to say 4.5/5 and vote 4/5.

I agree. I love the effects of the movie. I would like to see this win awards for the visual effect. This movie has amazing effects when you consider the little CGI that was used.
[Show spoiler]That Hotel scene was not shot behind a blue screen.
Most directors would have at least done CGI on that part. Then again, the lack of CGI makes the movie feel more real.

Well, they could've shot another 75 or 80 more bullets into the "vanpool dream machine" on the Heim Bridge on Terminal Island and maybe hit somebody, for starters.

Funny side note: They screened a preview of the movie Devil at the showing I went to. It was hilarious when they said, "From Director M. Night Shayamalan" (sp.) about halfway through it, all the funny comments people said aloud, such as "Oh my God" "PASS" "Oh you're kidding me" "(sarcastic) FIRST IN LINE!" etc...

Oh yeah, as far as my actual thoughts on the movie: Best movie of the year so far, by far. But then again, I haven't seen THAT much this year, plus this year has been apparently very lackluster as far as movie quality goes.

Yeah this has honestly been a down year for movies, I've only seen 13 myself(9 of those in theatres) but this has been by far the best one yet.
