The second time I saw this I saw it too!!! Thought it was interesting as well.

Technically perfect and the entire cast was fantastic.

It wasnt TOO complicated. However, it felt like it was told in a complicated fashion for the sake of being complcated, not because the story itself was complicated. Some films are interesting because the story complicated. Inception took a simple story and complicated it in an effort to make it interesting. That didnt work for me. I never felt sucked in.

Also, I felt like the teams actions were over explained a little bit, which left me less curious and intrigued. I knew too much, too soon, too easily.

Beautiful to look at, fast paced, well acted, incredible score (Zimmer ), nicely shot and edited action scenes, but just Meh overall.

3/5
Perfect.

My wife, myself, and the entire theater walked out "meh"-like at the end.

I thought there were three copouts in the movie:
[Show spoiler]1) the wife had hidden something away which DiCrapio replaced with his "inception" idea that the world wasn't real, but it was never revealed what the wife's secret idea originally was. I felt such a revelation could have added a lot to the story.
2) Watanabe was doomed to be in limbo because he had died in the dream, but DiCrapio pulled him out. Exactly how he did it was not shown; it was hinted that Watanbe put a gun to his own head and pulled the trigger three levels into the dream but we were shortchanged as to why that would save him and if in fact that's what happened.
3) What the hell did Watanabe gain from Fisher after all was said and done; there was no payoff.
I disagree about Leo making the movie worse. He was OK but others could have played his part. This was not a character driven movie, it was all story telling.

As for your points 1, 2, and 3, they don't matter. If you think they do then you missed the point of the movie.

1.
[Show spoiler]This doesn't matter.

2.
[Show spoiler]Showing you how they left limbo would have given away whether he was still dreaming or not in the end. This was on purpose.

3.
[Show spoiler]The idea was planted. It would grow to split up the company. We don't need to be shown this.

Ok i went and seen it for the second time! I need help understanding one thing.
[Show spoiler]How do they go from lvl 1 to lvl2?
I know they have(sedation) iv's. But Once ur in lvl1 how in a dream can u get to another lvl? If ur dreaming then the IVs arent real in the dream!! So I dont get how they get into a deeper sleep when there really is no sedation!
What did I miss?
It's the same process.
[Show spoiler]Remember that the mind believes that it is real when you are in a particular state of dreaming. Since everyone is already linked together via the REAL sedative and IVs, they just need to do that process within the dream to fool their mind into letting the go to the next level.

Saw it again, bumping the score up from 8.4 to 8.9 and I want to see it at least once more before it leaves theatres. Will be one of the best blu-rays I own once I get it, PQ, AQ and story-wise.

Agreed. Also see Shutter Island and The Basketball Diaries.

I know a lot of people don't like Leo based off of a movie or two he's in but he really is a great actor!

Give him a second chance people. He's awesome in Blood Diamond.

Too soon after seeing it the first and second time to give it a 9 or higher, at least for me. Besides now that you've told me what motivation you're going to use, it won't work.

Actually, #1 really DOES matter! But I agree that the person you quoted missed a big train on that one.
[Show spoiler]The top WAS the idea. She was hiding it away deep inside herself so that she could forget that she was in a dream. She decided to choose the dream world as her reality. So, everytime she would go back to the top in the safe, it would be tipped over. She would be able to trick herself into believing it was reality. That's why Cobb spins it. When she returns, she will see it spinning and know that her world is a dream. OR... EVEN BETTER... The top doesn't even need to be seen by her. Cobb spins it and the fact that it is contained within such a secret and secure place, Mal's subconscious will just become aware of it. YA! I like that one better. Mal has no need to return to her safe to become aware of the dream world. Which would make more sense since the idea sticks with her through into the real world so potently.

[Show spoiler]This right here explains exactly what I was kinda thinking but couldn't quite express in words. Brilliant explanation. I couldn't quite grasp what the secret exactly was, but this makes a lot of sense.

[Show spoiler]What I want to know is how he got INTO the safe she put it in. It's not like she would tell him the code, at least I don't think so. It could just be that he used his architect abilities and altered it to open.

I assumed since they were together for so long, that it is just one of those things that couples share. Not necessarily the code to the safe which has the top, but rather just a number that they have used in the past. Dream worlds allow for a LOT of gray area.

[Show spoiler]I find it odd that extraction is so common that Fischer would have pretty much an army of projections inside his mind to protect him. Funny thing is it only took a 4 man team to break through and get to the deepest levels of his mind.

Well, if you think about it,
[Show spoiler]Cobb had almost 50 years to try and figure out the combination. That's a lot of time for trial and error!

Personally, I just think that Cobb is obviously a professional thief in a non-traditional sense who uses traditional techniques to succeed. So, I'm sure that in his past he has learned the skills necessary to easily get into a safe of that relatively simple nature.

[Show spoiler]Then why did they have to hire that forger/thief instead of just letting Cobb do it? Mal didn't impact their mission THAT much.

[Show spoiler]Didn't affect their missiong THAT much??

They had to take the chance and go down ANOTHER level into limbo because of her and Cobb's inability to shoot her before she got Fisher.

They already said that the 3rd level was unstable.

They could have been lost forever because of 'her'

I just meant
[Show spoiler]that I doubt whether or not the thief/forger in the party was Cobb or someone else really affected Mal's actions as "she" tried to sabotage their mission. It actually seemed to me like Fischer's little gang affected their mission just as much as Mal did, they drastically altered the time frame they had and nearly killed every member of the team that went past the first level.
