I think a lot of people are just too caught up in trying to peg certain movies as great, classics, or masterpieces. Movies are made for viewers to enjoy them. As of this moment, TDK and Inception are my two favorite movies ever. I don't care what other people think, as they have their own opinions, as I do mine. All I know is I can/will rewatch both of these movies over and over, and will always enjoy them. Everyone else can debate about what's the best or whatnot. I'll just enjoy my movies

It's better than TDK, although that's not really the kind of movie I'd compare it to.

I agree. Can't really compare this movie to TDK. I think it's a better movie too, but that doesn't mean I'd watch it as much as TDK.

So, what movie would you compare it to?
I just want to understand what type of movie it is.

You're right, I'm neither. You can explain whatever theories you have on the movie. I'm open to other's opinions.

LOL! You just proved my point Buddy.

Seeing as I'm supposedly waaaaaay off-base with my thoughts on the movie I would love to hear more detailed responses....instead of just a couple sentences which dismiss my opinion (Buddy Christ) right away. So, shower me with information. It might...just might make me want to see it again.

Just saw it and what a mindf**k! Took a few minutes to understand what was going on but after that I was totally hooked. Can't wait to own it! One of the best movies I have seen in a long time, and I am including TDK. the only thing I can compare it to is after I saw the matrix for the first time.

Inception is a very unique movie. You may be able to find aspects that compare to other movies, but i can not think of anything I'd say makes a good direct comparison.

You are in for a treat. I thought TDK was great, but this was even better. Let us know what you think when you get back.

Internet ratings are irrelevant, just like imdb ratings are. TDK is not even remotely a timeless classic. Matrix is far more likely to be remembered in the future than TDK, but neither are classics or timeless. It's wayyyy too early to give them those titles when time is what determines what is and is not a classic. Masterpiece is a word that is thrown around much too often, as is epic.
IMO 'The Matrix' has not aged well. In many ways it has become a caricature, especially for its photographic gimmicks. They blew it by dragging it out too long and flogging the franchise. It had none of the subtlety that any of the Nolan mysteries have; they completely shot their wad in the first twenty minutes, then spent the next 5 or 6 hours "ordering" the audience to "question reality" without giving you a reason to.

... yes, those superlatives are heavily abused, mostly by people who haven't seen enough films to make such a judgement either way.

Not everyone will enjoy Inception (myself included) and you'll have to get over that fact. Does it mean they're stupid, moronic, less intelligent, hairy neanderthals who live in caves? Absolutely not.

Who is anyone to judge someone else's opinion on a movie that
[Show spoiler]literally ends mid-shot
. Next thing you'll tell me is everyone died when the screen cut to black on The Sopranos. Point is, you don't know for a 100% fact what really happened.

Which brings me to my final point.....so get ready for a non-sci-fi mind heist below!

1.) The people who truly don't 'get it' are the ones who already have their mind set as to what was real and what was the dream state during the entire movie.

2.) There are so many different variables that happen throughout the film which makes you debunk something you thought was 'real' the minute before and vice versa.

3.) Nolan's entire point of the movie is this: For you make up your own mind. To talk about it, to theorize it, to jot down for everyone else to read on das internet.....but not to make others feel like they "have their heads up their rears".

All that said and I thought the movie was boring. Sheesh! Imagine if I liked it, you'd already be making breakfast in bed for me, sweet pea.

You just got pwned my friend.
Then don't like it... but one star? That is, as I said, head-up-your-butt stubbornness, it's an exaggeration that should generally invalidate someone's rating system, it suggests that they are the kind of person that only gives ones and fives, and nothing in-between. The production quality alone should push it well above one star.

You "pwned" nothing, you had a tantrum.

... but your 3 points are correct.
