2017 Samsung TVs are the only TVs on the planet that support HDR10+ right now, and for the foreseeable future. So I wouldn't worry about it yet.

Some Samsung 2016 TVs are also getting the update to HDR10+. For now only HDR10 full support from the TV is desirable. Most important how well the screen can actually show different amount of light. Who knows if Dolby Vision will be in the future, or even the HDR10+ or HLG for broadcasts.

Samsung said it would happen by the end of 2017, and it hasn't. So don't fully trust what they've said.

My late 2016 49'' HDR Samsung set got HLG and PQ upgrade on its latest firmware upgrade (around three months ago) but this wasn't advertized so maybe they added HDR10+ on it too. I know it can display HLG and PQ because in Spain we have three 4K demo channel that play the same materialon a loop, one channel is PQ, my Samsung display shows "HDR", the second channel is HLG and it also displays "HDR" (and they look different one from the other despite being the same video material, just broadcasted using a different HDR system), and the thirs one is SDR and no "HDR" is displayed.
Has Amazon Video started to stream any series or movies on HDR10+? If so, what does your set say? Just plain HDR or it specifies it's HDR10+?

Let's all just hope HDR10+ withers on the vine so this isn't even an issue to worry about. Cause frankly im really pissed off at samsung for even attempting another format. Went with an LG OLED because it had all formats covered, then samsung comes out with their 2nd attempt, since they realized HDR10 blows and now my future proofed purchase comes into question. Likely a firmware update will happen for any higher end 2017 models, but still, to create this type of uncertainty only hurts UHD.

Hi there everyone. I just got a 55 inch OLED B7 TV, LG UP970 Blu ray player and a whack load of 4k movies. Some of the movies have HDR support while others have Dolby Vision support. I also run my cable box through the tv and have my 4k Netflix running natively though the TV's built in app. Unfortunately I am new to all this stuff and have no idea how to set any of this stuff up.

I have done some 4K and Blu ray disk comparisons and have noticed little to no difference in picture quality even though it says the HdR is enabled. This tells me something is wrong with my settings. I have read countless reviews on this site and others as to how the picture quality and colours are so different when comparing the disks but i, along with other people who have copared with me, don't see any difference at all. This has to be an issue with my settings.

Can someone help me properly adjusted and calibrate my settings to be optimized for Blu-ray disks, 4k HDR/Dolby Vision disks, Netflix, and standard cable? Thanks a lot!

Bad news, LG pulled the DV support for the UP970. So unless it's installed with the DV firmware and you don't install the new firmware, you won't be able to see the DV difference.

Ok thanks for the Dolby Vision update info, but what about the HDR? I don't even notice that. I swapped between Harry Potter in 4k and Blu-ray and didn't even notice the colour timing changes. Do you know when Dolby Vision will get readded back? It was the main reason I bought that player

You're got to go into your settings and enable wide color for that input, probably.

Yes, on LG's you must "Enable" Deep Color on the input being used ...

Ok I checked deep colour is enabled and all firmwares are up to date. Still not seeing any difference between an HDR picture and a standard Blu ray. Thanks for all the help so far. I'm new to all this. But as my settings stand I don't see any reason to upgrade to 4k as I can't visually see any difference between a HDR enabled disk and a standard Blu-ray of the same movie

information :: hopefully helpful

LG is actually the easiest (normally) to get the appropriate performance without needing to search/set up (you should have been automatically prompted when you connected/turned on your player/inserted a disc - to turn on HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color) :: that's all you need to do (per input)

check settings :: (settings - general - HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color)
note :: make certain that this setting is on for each port (you should have been prompted automatically when you connected and turned on your player to turn it on - quite easy actually) :: regardless, you can use settings to do so (quite easy)

when playing content (HDR or Dolby Vision) - (verifying what you're seeing) :: an identifying logo will appear on the upper right corner of the screen - HDR for HDR & Dolby Vision for Dolby Vision) :: this behavior will occur whether the source content is streaming or disc player :: if the identifying icon does not occur, for whatever reason you will not be getting the appropriate performance (at least i think so)

until the LG UP970 firmware update supporting Dolby Vision becomes available, all 4K UHD discs should trigger the HDR logo :: again, if not, you're not getting it (HDR)

Blu-ray (HD) :: no identifying logos appear (they simply play as should be expected - the same with regards to DVD)

(note :: perhaps another posting i will follow up with settings for picture quality that might be of interest - specific to using the LG UP970)

(note :: if you're still not seeing a difference - that would not make sense)

This is not typical, you should go to rtings.com and look up calibration settings for your B7. Many OLED owners here in these threads. They seem very happy with the HDR10 pictures they get. (I have a Sony so I don't have personal settings to share.)

Just so you know, every DV disc you have has an HDR10 base layer with a secondary layer with the DV metadata which get merged in a DV enabled player. The Oppo 203, is the only current DV player, I'm predicting there will be more players announced at CES 2018 in the next 10 days or so.

Can an OLED owner offer more help to this member?

Do you have an "info" button to see what your player is sending to the LG? as another poster mentioned, LG's display a rectangular HDR notification at the upper right hand side of the screen. My thought is the player is not sending HDR.

Are you using Premium Certified HDMI cables? Less than adequate cables can give you problems. Make sure your cables have this logo...they don't need to be expensive.
