I haven't made my trip to BB yet today, but I noticed now that if your order The Martian from their website you can get it delivered in Monday.

The movie dropoffs can happen anytime between now and 8 pm. So they may get them later.

All right guys. Those that have Twitter. Please send messages to James Finn, PR guy of FOX.. We need an explanation why there is no Dolby Atmos on 4K UHD Blu-ray from 20th FOX. Even their biggest title The Martian suffers by this move.

I went ahead and cleared an area in 3D for the 10 Fox titles. The whole first section will set be for UHD next week.

Heres the front and back of 7 that came in.

LOL @ DAT STICKER!

"HDR for the most lifelike image quality ever"

Interesting choice of words! It'not better or true to the original movie, it's more.... Lifelike....

Who cares??? Movies are not documentary films!

While you are at it, complain about no slipcovers and eco garbage cases.

Nothing at my BB, worker was clueless as expected. He first said the end of the month, but thought I was talking about the player itself. Which I told him I already have, then he asked what movie I was interested in, I replied any but mostly the Martian. He said it's the end of the month for all of them so I let him know I can order online with a Monday delivery. So he checked his computer but not their system! He went to bestbuy.com & saw the date I gave him, & replied with we can't sell them until Monday.

And complain about the lack of titles mastered from genuine 4K (not upscaled) sources.

No slip sucks but at least the 4K Ultra HD logo didn't come off when I peeled the sticker off like a lot of Blu-rays do.

Columbus, OH.
The one at the top of the case? It shouldn't do because it's painted on.

My friend here in Norway has seats. The Fox discs has region Lock on the BD's. That's not make any sense.

Yo Adrian

I noticed that in less than 4 weeks time, this thread accumulated an additional 80,000 views….actually reaching that milestone several pages ago. Come to think of it, that’s pretty impressive/humble considering there’re only one or two posts specifically devoted to discussing the new Samsung UHD Blu-ray player, which is probably the hottest trending topic on the home theater internets.

I’m grateful for your participation and encouragement as to this thread’s continued great success. With that said, my better half and I are leaving tomorrow afternoon to celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend in Palm Springs with longtime friends…and from there…onto yet again, our annual desert retreat

which, despite a slight change in name still goes by the same acronym, namely HPA where I plan on shoveling more gravel as well as osmosis-ing it from others at the daily breakfast roundtables which can be more candid and revealing than even the formal presentations.

In the meantime, hold down the fort until we return.

P.S.
First up on the HPA docket (subject to change) is to absorb the gravel presented by the ATSC Seminar or that of Charles Poynton, a presenter once referenced to by that old Army guy with the cool name of Stacey Spears .

Followed by….http://hollywoodpostalliance.org/?page_id=128302

Note to Richard Paul , Geoff et al.: the force be with you, if you’ve got the time, keep ‘em HPA informed while I’m away on desert sabbatical because what is presented here is often the precursor, or DNA if you will, to products, devices and services that consumers eventually spend their entertainment money on.

So im watching the MARTIAN in HDR on disc for the 1st time.

and it definitely beats the MGO version.

sharper, better blacks, and more color.

but this one has some sky banding. im not sure if the probably is the HDMI cable or what. turning on HDMI color makes things way worse.

i put the regular 1080P blu ray in, and it looks very weak in comparison. the resolution looked aweful, the colors were muted, and the depth of the picture was gone. easy choice choosing the UHD HDR version.
