Street Date for Terminator is May 12th and this is the only info Fox has:
Specs: Audio: English: Stereo / French: 5.1 Dolby Surround
Language: Dubbed: English & French / Subtitled: English, French & Spanish

I have a feeling they'll include the original audio. Despite MGM's other faults, they're usually good about things like that (just look at the Bond blu rays and even the blu ray of Raging Bull). And remember, the previous blu ray edition which didn't have the mono track wasn't released by MGM, it was released through Sony.

Its not terminator 2, but the first Terminator movie.
The mono track was the audio format that the film was originally presented with

Yes, you are missing something, a BIG something in fact. The 5.1 track found on the blu ray edition ruined the original soundtrack, they rerecorded the original sound effects and replaced them with crappy ones that just don't sound right at all and sound completely uninspired and lifeless. So to answer your question, that's why the mono track is so important.
