Been to busy to be ecstatic over much of anything lately

Well, I can’t visit the dedicated Prem thread as I haven’t watched any of the Sunday matches and it probably won’t be until Friday that I get time to watch the Man City match scheduled for today, so just tell me one thing, given the fact that we achieved 0 points this weekend –

When does the transfer window close?

September 2nd. Normally midnight but I think this one closes at 11pm UK time.

Thanks Steed so there’s a little time left to make needed improvement by acquisition. Question is…is there a will to do so. B.t.w., you have my sympathy also as I see your team is starting in the hole too.

Last night I was emailed a message and link alerting me to the fact that the internet can be a very toxic place. So, what the hell is new about that?

Well, in this case, apparently it has prompted an overwhelmingly successful 4K pioneer to make his final post. In that regard, I’ve never been troubled by Jim (rather, I think, his fanboys are what really irritates people outside the RED clique), in fact I have the utmost admiration for Jim since he has been an integral part of the 4K movement. His personal passion for camera technology and his innovative marketing have essentially dragged other entities (kicking and screaming behind closed doors) to evolve from HD and < 4K cameras to file-based 4K devices; otherwise, we would have been stuck in the HD world for a much longer time period.

So, I say this….Note to Jim about your “Final Post” ( http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthr...-My-Final-Post ), I know your lovely wife challenged you to be as successful in the camera business as you were at Oakley to prove to her that you were not a one trick pony. Well, listen carefully to the lyrics of yet another beautiful woman and get inspired again because whether it be South Pasadena, Foothill Ranch, Irvine or Red Studios Hollywood, this is America and we all need you back online someday – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ka#post7980965

I was so deflated on Saturday, I couldn't even watch any football highlights. Was not expecting that.

Being an amateur MX racer back in the day, then chilling in the pits talking motorcycle accessories, beer, babes, etc. with friends after all the two-wheeled action had ended at venues like Saddleback (my favorite)…

I can fill in an early gap which is not included in the piece. In those years in which we didn’t have smartphones, tablets and such, Jim was an energetic motorcycle sales rep (and local rider) who had some ideas to make better products for riders, the premier one being a better tread-patterned grip which was made of a synthetic material that got sticky when the grips got wet, as well as a more ergonometric design over traditional round grips.

Anyway, when he approached his bosses with his ideas, he was essentially blown off and told to do what he was being paid to do….*just sell stuff, minion*. Frustrated as hell, he went on to launch his own company, Oakley. The ergonomic design of the throttle side grip admittedly didn’t go over well with motocross riders (me included), but he then came out with a second version (still made out of that same great synthetic material and tread) having the more traditional round design of a handlebar grip. Guys I know, absolutely loved the improved version…including me. So, after his success with this in the motorcycle world, he eventually introduced his grips to the BMX world and as they say, the rest is history.

Note, to camera geeks out there, even before Jim started RED, he had the most prolific camera collection of any amateur photographer whom I’d ever heard about, because for one thing, he shot a lot of the early marketing stuff for Oakley personally.

The list of which also includes the upcoming Blu-ray Rubinrot (a song from the soundtrack that pleasantly sticks in my mind )…https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...es#post7613563.

As well as the first film to be restored using ACES …Alamo Bay ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088689/ )

As well as an F65 (4K) shot TV show of which I’m not at liberty to talk about.

My fave breed is red setters. In my experience, clumsy, but oh so loveable.

Big fan of springer spaniels also. My last dog loved my home cinema. Or maybe, he just wanted to apply some pressure to remind me he wanted a walk soon.. He certainly seemed to be looking at the screen quite a bit though!!!!

Before anyone posts reply, he was not watching Dog day afternoon!!!!

If only yours and mine had longer life expectantcies….http://www.nbcnews.com/video/nightly...36512#52636512

All I’m left with these days are my coyotes and they have more pragmatic things on their minds (like avoiding rattlesnakes) than watching TV, even if they had access.

Their presence is a fact of life...where I roam and ride when I’m outdoors and away from suburbia…has been so for a long time - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ke#post1116738

And I don't carry a stinkin cellphone when I try to get as far away from civilization as I possibly can, for I feel that kind of defeats the whole purpose to begin with. I guess I'm old school in that sense.

Steed, this time of year, it’s not uncommon for me to see one rattlesnake almost every other day that I’m on my mountain bike. I still remember back when I used to ride with a Senior V.P. from one of the major Hollywood studios and there was a big rattler on the fire road of which we were riding side-by-side, talking. Well, said V.P. didn’t notice it until he was nearly right on it (because dem snakes are naturally camouflaged so well) and then in trying to avoid rolling directly over it, he swerved into me, nearly hitting me….for which, out of reflex, I swerved, nearly losing control myself.

To this day, I still wonder had he taken both of us down together, if we would have had one of those Raiders of the Lost Ark moments…at least with one pissed off venomous snake coiled in a strike position next to us, while laying helplessly on the ground all tangled together in a heap, still clipped solidly into our pedals.

maybe, back in my BMX days, I would of attempted a fancy swerve to avoid it.
