Feels like the sort of cover template you would see 10 or 20 years ago, similar to Park Circus and Odeon’s RKO releases but worse. Or a variation on the Cohen template.

Awful covers but Jigsaw is a terrific film.

It was one of Val Guest’s from the era where he’d take a genre subject (crime; medical drama etc…) and shoot it in black and white Scope in a real town and make great use of local colour.

In this case the town is Brighton (with excursions to nearby Lewes).

The original poster isn’t brilliant but would make a better cover.

I hope Screenbound have got a better transfer than that on the Cohen disc, there's no way that could be described as "stunning HD".

Agreed Jigsaw is very good, really enjoyed watching it recently.

I’ve an awful feeling it’ll be a direct port. Happy to be proven wrong. The Duke of York’s in Brighton showed a 35mm print of Jigsaw 15 or so years ago and it looked better than the Cohen disc.

I have the Arrow set. Just need to get the separate title.

I just realised that I'm mistaken. Three Brothers is not a Taviani Brothers film. It was directed by Francesco Rosi. Sorry for the mix up.

Age is catching up with me

Three Brothers is highly recommended. One of the very best Italian films of its era.

Interesting, I thought that I already had Three Brothers, but apparently I don't. Age, you say?

The Deceivers is on TV here relatively often, I quite like it, so the Screenbound release is a pleasant surprise.

From Michael B on FB Messenger:

I even tried to extricate my commentary from Arrow (I was either going to offer it to Screenbound or release it separately as an MP3 as Arrow clearly didn't have any further use for it), but it seems that it's technically owned by Cohen, as Arrow's contract for the Taviani films said that Cohen would be the ultimate owner of any extras that Arrow produced for it.

United Kingdom A Midsummer Night's Dream (Robert Lindsay, November 2024)

Screenbound not been paying their bills or have lost their domain? https://screenbounddirect.co.uk/ gets an error.

Never heard of it and never been able to get through a Shakespearean rhyming film either and looking at the director's previous work I'm not surprised.

News page https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=35228

I don't think I've seen Robert Lindsay in anything for decades (probably the brilliant G.B.H. and Jake's Progress)

TBC

AKA Aberraciones sexuales de una mujer casada
AKA La Proie Du Desire AKA Sexual Aberrations of a Married Woman
AKA Diary of a Desperate Housewife

I see their site is back working https://screenbounddirect.co.uk/product/cecilia/

I don't think I've seen this. Screenbound have a DVD already with a reversible sleeve apparently.

Amazon list the director as "Claude Plaut" who seems to be Olivier Mathot who directed one scene.

I see that Smokescreen (1964) is getting an airing on Talking Pictures tonight, another low budget movie that punches above its weight.
