Are Blu-ray discs really selling better in the U.K. than here in the United States? I have noticed a lot of really good older films are being released over in the U.K within the coming months that have not even had an announcement, let alone a release here in the United States. I find this extremely concerning. So, what's the deal with this??

Unfortunately there are a lot of TV shows that get released on DVD only... The worst is when they release the first one or two seasons on blu-ray and then switch to DVD for the rest of the series (or, even worse, cheap Manufacture-on-Demand DVD-R discs). FOX and FX seem to be bad for that. Probably has to do with a show's popularity, and sales of previous season releases. Pretty Little Liars has its fanbase, but the majority are teenagers who don't have as much money as adults (and are less likely to be blu-ray collectors), so Warner Bros. isn't going to spend the extra money on a customer base that isn't there.

Going back to the very first post, I really wish they had released the theatrical cut of Troy on Blu-ray. I have the director's cut but it just isn't as good. They changed the music in my favourite scene (
[Show spoiler] ) and it totally spoils it.

I don't know if it will ever happen but I'm in serious need of some Blown Away on blu-ray.
I'm not talking about the 1994 Tommy Lee Jones/Jeff Bridges movie but the 1993 Nicole Eggert/Corey Haim erotic thriller. Total low brow but a lot of fun with some serious early 90's royalty. I've owned every VHS and every DVD there is of this movie and I'm not not having it in HD. I'll tolerate a bad transfer. Fullscreen, no extras... sure. But give. it. to. me. ![]() |

Anyone else remember the FX Network show Lucky (2003)? That needs a Blu-ray release.
Or any release. I would also like to see Stay Alive hit Blu-ray. The DVD release was crap. The theatrical version (which is arguably better) is full-screen only; the widescreen version is the awful director's cut. Stay Alive desperately needs a Blu-ray release. |

I did a search on this subject and got zero, so here goes.
Last year in the UK, a complete series collection for The Incredible Hulk was released on Blu-Ray. I have yet to see any type of release slated for the U.S. Have any of you intrepid BluRayophiles heard of such a release? I think it is way overdue! |

There's so many good titles already out on bluray, it's rare that I particularly care if/when something becomes available...
In fact, there's only one movie & one show I'd hope (but seriously doubt it'll happen - at least for one of them) gets the BR treatment: Sgt. Bilko The Wonder Years ...okay Down Periscope would be kinda nice too. That movie still makes me lol. |
