Transformers will be on Blu-Ray sometime on or about Jan 1, 2009

However, if WB goes Blu-Ray exclusive by Q1 2008, and Blu-Ray moves to 85% market share, then Paramount and Universal will go Neutral or drop HD-DVD regardless of agrements, and you may see Transformers and all the other universal/Paramount as early as Q3 2008.

Oh, and one more option, get a HD Tivo or other device that allows you to download HD Movies, (Cable) and save it to your DVR on High Def and you won't need to buy it on disc.

Probably down to 12 months by now, maybe less if HD-DVD implodes before next Christmas!

it's been almost 4 months now...we have another 12 months left unless other studio's make the jump ship and leave Paramount stranded..

in which case, HD-DVD wouldn't even be considered an option by retailers...and they would be shut down by default..

Based on his other posts I would say he is most likely not a troll. Also, those that are just now jumping into blu-ray are not as familiar with the past events as others. Besides, after finding out it was not on Blu he did not go off on a "Blu-ray is stupid, I can't believe I wasted money on this" rant. That would be indication of a Troll.

To the OP: Welcome to the forums! You will find that most here are more than willing to help out and answer any questions. However I would strongly encourage you use the search function in the forums, then if you don't find anything feel free to post a new thread. Also if you have any technical problems or questions many users on the forums are very helpful.

Cheers!

There is a discussion elsewhere but to sum it up, Paramount, the studio behind Transformers signed an exclusivity agreement to inly release movies on HD DVD. The New York Times reported that the deal will last a total of 18 months and that Paramount/DreamWorks received $150 Million dollars for being exclusive.

There are indications that South Korea (Region A) will be releasing it on Blu-ray since Paramount does not have distribution rights in South Korea. I also believe that the same is true for Sweden or one of the other Region B countries in that they can release it on Blu-ray. Since you have an Australian PS3 (Region B) the European option would probably be your best bet. Again this is only a rumor but they come from pretty reliable sources. However that is probably a few months away if it happens. In the mean time the DVD looks great upscaled on the PS3.

It's going to be a while you can expect the format war to end or be pretty much over by the time it comes out.

You mean Paramount/Dreamworks? Yeah, that's old news. They accepted a $150 million bribe to go HD DVD-exclusive, but only for 18 months. They should go back to neutral or blu-only after that time period.

How was that Dolby Digital+ sounding?

Can't resist, every time I hear Transformers and HD-DVD, that's the first thing that comes to mind.

Sorry about this because I'm sure it's been asked a thousand times, but my searches don't turn up anything spacific.

Does anyone know when is V for Vendetta, and Sin City going to be released on Blu-Ray? It was slated for release when the HD-DVD versions were released, but have never come to fruition.

Any info on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
