John Wick, Hacksaw Ridge, Ex Machina, Sicario, many others, as long as the master is good. Lionsgate had nothing to do with the T2 DNR so that's not their fault, and nothing they could do about it, so using it as the one example as to their quality isn't really fair nor indicative of their releases as a whole.

It always saddens me when studios either cheap out or become lazy and simply use old masters (that aren't always very good) and slap them on a UHD disc with no thought or effort put in. I'm not saying all upscales from 2k DI"s look bad, but if that DI isn't good, then it comes across as nothing more than a cash grab, and 4k discs almost universally sell at a premium, especially upon initial release. Give us what we're buying, not a haphazard release. I would guess that most people who have adopted 4k at this point are hardcore movie fans and/or serious collectors. All we are looking for is for our treasured films to be handled with care. |

Most of their best-looking discs are newer product so it stands to reason that they look good - when even Universal and Paramount can't **** those up you know that Lionsgate can handle it too - and that's fair enough, but I've also liked much more of their catalogue product that I've seen than not. What we don't know is how they'll handle brand new film transfers from scratch, I can't think of many examples even in the pre-UHD era of Lionsgate having to do these for themselves so IMO there's very little precedent for people to worry themselves over (unlike my fear of a Nolan planet because we've already got proof of what his notion of UHD looks like, see how that works?). So I'm happy to wait and see. |

Regarding this release specifically, yes, the surround mixes for it in the past have been terrible and super duper revisionist. This movie really needs its original audio back. Quote:
Not THAT is some awesome artwork. Last edited by Colson; 07-31-2018 at 12:22 PM. |

PS
Lionsgate have released some of the worst BDs around when it comes to competent mastering (I don't mean extras, in case Cliff is reading this, I mean the picture quality) so I can understand why that train of thought might carry on over into UHD but that's why I praise them like I should: their BDs are so shite that it magnifies the competence of their UHD output. ![]() |

To be honest the one which I have the most doubts over is American Psycho, it's never been treated properly on home video. This is the opportunity for Lionsgate to right the wrongs and give it the release it deserves, and the one it needs right now to paraphrase a certain film. ![]() |

I'm perplexed on why they're not including a digital code with this release? Don't get me wrong, the UHD disc is the main selling point for me, but I was also hoping to add it to my digital collection as well for when I travel or when friends/family want to watch it. I'm pretty sure it's available via iTunes, so some sort of digital rights must exist.

Does Lionsgate also own the rights to 4 and 5? I would like to see them released in 4K UHD format as well.
