Actually, the 35th anniversary disc is what i want. I never got around to buying it when it came out so this is great, for me.

Amazon needs to fix the description.

I doubt most people want to pay $20 for an o-ring.

Relive the terrifying film that launched an entire genre when Halloween arrives on 4K Ultra HD™ Combo Pack (plus Blu-ray™) September 25 from Lionsgate. Starring Golden Globe® winner Jamie Lee Curtis (Best Actress, True Lies, 1994), Donald Pleasance, Tony Moran, and P.J. Soles, this edition of the horror classic delivers four times the fear with four times the resolution of Full HD with 4K, which also uses Dolby Vision™ HDR to bring to life the stunning cinematography of this supernatural horror film. Nice! Thanks for that...

For all those fans who bought the franchise BD box set, are you gonna hold off for an eventual 4K/UHD box re-release?

Nope, I've got the BD boxset and I've pre-ordered the standalone UHD as well as Halloween II and III mastered in 4K BD Steelbooks from Scream Factory. I don't often do this but these movies are an exception.

Shit...I'm REALLY behind the times in the new UHD world...

Scream Factory is beginning to release "mastered in 4K" titles?!?

They have 'em out for Halloween II and III?

They are not in the UHD 4k format they're Blu-ray format releases but sourced from new 4k scans

Oh, yeah -- now I see:

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=23581

So these are just BLU-RAYS with 4K scans, not actual UHD discs?

Don't get me wrong -- I'm as avid a fan of Scream as anyone else here, but I really don't care for the customized art they give these titles...they should just use the theatrical poster art for all packaging IMO (I know they include the reversable art in the keepcase).

In my opinion, that new artwork for Halloween III in particular is awful...

Yes, I see that; thanks.

My god, how many times are they gonna ask fans to rebuy these? I'm sure there are people out there who bought the standalone Universal releases, then the standalone Scream Factory discs, then the franchise set, now the "4K scan" Blu-rays...

And the first Halloween seems to be the only one, right now, receiving a true 4K re-encoding?

Me? I have Anchor Bay/Starz!' first Blu-ray of the first film, the Anchor Bay THX DVD of the first film, plus the Universal anamorphic DVD of II and III...

While Season of the Witch looks surprisingly good, still, on DVD, II isn't holding up all that well, so I have to see what I'm gonna do with all these coming out...

You're kidding, right? We could be waiting a decade for that. Assuming it ever happens.

I'll get the UHD(especially now that it has mono) and hang onto the box set.

This is awesome! Does anyone know the previous releases well enough to say if any of these special features are new? Thanks in advance

Should have ordered when it was $17.99. Now it’s unavailable at B.B., and Amz raised the price.

No, I actually wasn't (seems eventually everything arrives, many times way before we imagined).

At any rate, the sequels should be around the corner as separately-available UHDs...

It's a nice idea to have them all together, but in the US these rights are so complex that I wouldn't hold out hope for a 4K set like the Blu-ray set.

I do think II and Season of the Witch will come sooner than later. For the rest, I'd say next Halloween would be the absolute earliest.

No integral cut TV cut means I'll hold onto the BD as well.

Hoping for UHD discs of 2 and 3. Really the only reason I bought that boxed set was for the real mono and TV cuts of these.

I'm not much of a fan of anything after 3, though I do like 4.

No doubt; I was merely saying that these things do eventually happen (for the most part) -- however, in the case of Halloween, getting that franchise box debacle worked out with Scream and all else involved was a miracle on its own, so I know where you're comin' from...

I'll probably hold off (well, I kinda have to being that I don't have a UHD player yet) until I see some reviews of the first film, and then see if any of the sequels are released in the format (as it stands, I don't like any sequel beyond The Return of Michael Myers; don't even get me started on Zombie's remake, and now with the new reboot/continuation film coming out this October, who knows...).

I agree that 4 is the last of the decent sequel attempts; does it get any worse than when we have "Busta Rhymes" () screaming "TRICK OR TREAT, MOTHA !!@!@!@!@" (or whatever he says in one of those later sequels)?

Also hoping for 2 and 4. Part 4 was my first exposure to the series back in the late 80s and what I always liked about it was that it captured a strong late Autumn/Halloween atmosphere. I haven’t seen it in years so maybe it doesn’t hold up, but as a kid I liked it much better than 5 or 6, or anything that came afterwards.

Yeah, Return of Michael Myers just "feels" like an appropriate return to the series, what with its opening title sequence set against the wind-whipped autumn plains and farm and then its immersion into what feels like a world that makes a nod to the original.

I've always said that following part four, the franchise just went down the proverbial toilet -- especially when Dimension began crankin' them out regularly -- and once they introduced the whole "guy in the black cloak" and "druid cult" angle, the films were done.
