Sad to hear. Knew it had to happen sooner rather than later due to his age, but it's no less of a shock to hear of his passing. Roger Moore was the first Bond I remember seeing back in the early 80s and A View To A Kill was the first one I saw on the big screen. He was a very classy guy, very humble about all the success he had, always answering fan questions on social media and participating as much as he could in Bond related events and functions.

I'm saddened to hear that Sir Roger Moore passed away from cancer, although I knew this was coming at some point.
I came of age when Moore was James Bond 007, and I still love revisiting his Bond films (Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, and A View to a Kill) as such. I also enjoy his work in films like The Wild Geese (1978), The Cannonball Run (1981), and The Naked Face (1984), as well as his role as Simon Templar in the 1960s television show, The Saint. After he retired from the Bond franchise, Moore served for 12 years as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, and received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth. A few years ago, I read Roger Moore's book, My Word is My Bond: A Memoir, and enjoyed his sharp recollections. I also love listening to his commentary tracks on the Blu-rays of his Bond films. Rest in peace. |

Well, shit. While Connery is the Ur 007 and Brosnan was a blast, Roger was the Bond I grew up with. He might get some stick for being goofy towards the end of his run, but I loved all his movies - even View To A Kill and Moonraker. And I will fight each and every person who says they were crap.

It's really sad that in the last few years we've lost a lot of guys from the Moore era: Christopher Lee, Clifton James, Patrick Macnee, Louis Jourdan. |
