Casino Royale was ok too!

Guess I'll stick with Strikeback Season 3/4 on Cinemax. Better action, better plot of wiping out scumbags world wide, and better sex and action. Looking forward to Season 5 in that series!

Lethal Weapon - A-ok too!
ok? lol

Imagine the uproar if he dresses as a clown in Indy 5!
I remember being infuriated at the clown costume in the promotional material. In the film in works superbly. Moore plays it dead serious and he had just been identified minutes before crashing the gate at the airbase by the Air Force security and the German police chasing him. The clown costume hides his identity while giving him a chance to find the nuclear bomb before detonation. IMO Octopussy is in Moore's top 3 Bond films.

The Tarzan scene is a groaner agreed, but the Bannister scene in classic Bond! Outrageous, a ton of fun and something you would only see in a Bond film. Also minutes before the clown scene Moore is taking out Russians with headshots! What is not to like.

I need to rewatch Octopussy. It's by far the one I've seen least, and has pretty much always been my least favorite. Diamonds is the other candidate for least favorite and is also due for a rewatch soon.

Will never understand the AVTAK hate. Yeah Moore is too old and Tanya Roberts can't act herself out of a paper bag and it's a remake of Goldfinger, but there's enough good stuff there to outweigh those few negatives. I always have a good time watching that, and especially listening to that beautiful score (with my favorite theme song).

I used to love Octopussy, but at the time i dont believe I had seen many of the Bond films. Now it has fallen in my ranks. I was able to watch all of the Roger Moore films over my four day weekend. Here's how they rank to me:
1. The Spy Who Loved Me
2. Live and Let Die
3. For Your Eyes Only
4. Octopussy (getting worse)
5. Moonraker (getting better)
6. The Man with the Golden Gun
7. A View to a Kill

Most people's favorite Bond movies tend to be the ones they grew up with. For me, it was Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies. No matter what the snobs or nuBond fans think, those two will always be my favorites.

TND in particular?

Normally I'm not one to trade on nostalgia but when it comes to the Bond series, I think it's totally understandable and perhaps even appropriate.

Hate to break it to you but Strike Back is done, season 4 was the end.
One thing I will say about Strike Back is I think Philip Winchester would make a great James Bond.

This was changed for American audiences and stupidly so. The British spell it the other way. The original title Licence Revoked was changed as thought Americans wouldn't understand the meaning. IMO the British spelling should have been used as the character is not American.

There's a reason why I've never liked Timothy Dalton's portrayal of Bond, but I think the other members have hit on the reason why he's often disliked. It also threw me off that the films he was in had a cold open, where the films didn't start with the opening salvo of Bond being handed his mission orders from M and that Q was mostly non-existent. I found On Her Majesty's Secret Service to be a better film that Dalton's two outings as the British spy.

But, on another note, I don't think Craig's upset over being asked about the next Bond film. I've followed some of the press on Craig, and I'm not referring to his interview about slashing his wrists before he would ever do another Bond movie. I'm referring to one particular news report where some over eager fans wanted to take pictures of him and his wife Rachel Weisz, when they were out in public. This happened when the couple was out shopping for food when these over-zealous fans decided to encroach on their privacy. While Rachel tried to be the voice of reason, the proper thing to do was to ask for permission to get a photo. The majority of the time, the celebrity might let you take a photo instead of someone deciding that they are entitled to take a picture.

The majority of people take these photos to sell to some scandal magazine for money. But, I think altercations like that are the reason why he had taken the approach that he did in regards to making another Bond film. That, added to the constant nagging from fans about when another Bond film is coming, might have pushed the actor over the edge. Comments like that are usually said in the heat of the moment, without thinking and without planning for what he was going to say.

I think he said later that if you ask a marathon runner the same question after they'd crossed the finish line, you'll get the same response. You must imagine the preproduction physical regimen, and the arduous production schedule (and traveling), and post prod, followed by promotional junkets,… it's quite an ordeal. Ask him at 2 minutes past the completion time of all that, slicing his wrists sure sounds appealing. (Except for the kids.)

Dalton has the acting chops, but I dislike his take on the character because he lacks charisma.

Me too. TND is my favorite!
TND grows on me each time I watch it. After Goldeneye I had high expectations and TND wasn't what I was expecting. But it's got all the classic elements, even if some of Arnold's score was too often copied from Barry. And Michelle Yeoh is a very capable Bond girl. Oh yeah, and Carver's choice of words are delicious.

TWINE always left a bad taste in my mouth, although it has some good stuff going for it. I was first burnt by it because of promotional material and one of the reasons I often avoid trailers or any articles about movies now. I read that Sophie Marceau would be the main Bond girl and would create a romance that would rival OHMSS (not to mention that there were a lot of those references in the movie, least of the title), and that Denise Richards was a secondary character. As the movie panned out, it wasn't like that at all. Years later I thought it may have even been misinformation to keep the twist a secret and unexpected, but I was confused and waiting for something to change (like KOTCS, an early promo picture on IMDb showed the cast with John Hurt as Abner Ravenwood. Kept waiting for some reveal during the movie, but nope).

Also, the precredit sequence seemed too long. Don't have an exact duration but I'm sure it's the longest. It should have stayed focused on one part or the other, but with two very different set pieces it dragged. And I'm a huge fan of Garbage, but I was really expecting something with more energy. The Canadian band Metric has a song called "Gold Guns Girls." That is like a demo song for an audition for a Bond film. Who knows? I like the ballad Bond themes, but my favorites are the fast paced ones. You Know My Name is my favorite of the Craig Series.

Yes, it's the longest in the series by far. Originally it was supposed to end with Bond making his escape from the Swiss banker's office in Bilbao but it was felt that was kind of lackluster, so they moved the speedboat chase ahead to the PTS.

Anyone know the UV expiration dates of the 23-disc and 24-disc sets? The set came out over a year ago, and some UV codes don't last that long.

Personally, I happen to be aware that it takes around six months to a year before pre-production on the new film starts. It's mostly the same for most franchise films in a series. With the Bond films, they've been running at a 2-3 year gap between films.

But, I do understand Daniel Craig's irritation about being asked the same question over and over again. His response should be, "the movie will be made when it gets made" or "talk to the production studio".

Still in my latest watching of the whole series, and I just watched Tomorrow Never Dies. I remember seeing this in the theater but never really remember the contents much, I think I was more excited to see Michelle Yeoh (Khan) back then cause we had seen her in stuff like Wing Chun and The Heroic Trio. Plus "the guy from Brazil", and "Mitchell!". Plus altered states of mind, etc...

But I actually paid attention this time cause I'm trying to give Brosnan another chance after some folks here talking him up. I think back when Goldeneye came out, not only had I become an "adult" and was seeing many R-rated films I was denied growing up, but kind of had "new Bond" fatigue. I'd seen 2 Moore, 2 Dalton, plus NSNA in the theater growing up. I liked Dalton a lot and was a little put off by another different Bond. But this time watching TND, I agree Brosnan isn't half-bad in it. In fact I think he's much improved in the role here over his portrayal in Goldeneye.

There's way too many dumb sexual innuendo jokes, and I didn't really like the pre-credit sequence much. Or the credit sequence either (oh Maurice Binder, miss you!). But once the movie settles down, and Jonathan Pryce settles down a little, the film's pretty fun. The motorcycle sequence was fantastic actually, really fun. And the PQ on the blu-ray is quite nice. Dare say I enjoyed this more than I ever have before, and more so than Goldeneye even.

Too bad the TWINE is coming up though, because I know that ain't gonna get any better! But ill genuinely try to have an open mind

Is Licence to Kill uncut in these box sets or was that only for international releases of the movie and the PG-13 version is still the one we get on the Blu-ray here in the States?

It's uncut. All of the films that had cuts restored to the Ulitmate Edition DVDs are the same on the blu-rays.

The PG-13 version of Licence To Kill IS the uncut version. It was trimmed a bit for violence outside of the US, I think in the UK, but not in the US.

It's Casino Royale that is cut in the US and uncut internationally.
