The digital code worked like a charm. Vudu is the only option though.

So I don’t feel bad I missed out on iTunes 4K redemption since iTunes is not an option.

I think since this title was under ultra violet in 2016 it went under ultra violet retailers which iTunes I don’t believe was an option

Just curious, how do the Blu-rays compare to the iTunes 4K versions? Which looks better? Particularly the older films.

I've never understood the dislike for QoS. I found it to be actioned packed and enjoyable. It left me wanting more (in a good way). But I feel like the followups to it didn't do a good job of paying it off.

Dr. No - Darker, saturated colors, but tad too dark in places.

Thunderball - no window boxed credits, and more stable colors

You Only Live Twice - Similar to the BD colors but more natural film grain

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service - The BD looks great 85-90% of the time but some scenes look more digital compared to this which looks more consistently film like.

The Man With the Golden Gun - No edge enhancement, and more detail plus natural film grain

For Your Eyes Only : Slight improvement on detail but might not be as noticeable.

Octopussy : Good improvement makes the BD look digital looking. More film like with natural grain.

A View to Kill : Way better…..no cropping so much more detail.

Licence to Kill : Overall more detail and film like appearance

Goldeneye : See A View to a Kill. Clear winner as the BD is pretty average but there may be a few errors in the transitions but I didn’t notice it.

Die Another Day : No more EE so looks more film like.

Casino Royale : Unrated cut that is a 4K disc exclusive so if you haven’t gone 4K this is a good option.

Hope this helps. Seems like most of these have more natural grain and more film like appearance.

I'm guessing because it's sort of a bridge movie between Casino and Skyfall. It's the least consequential in terms of the story they were telling, but yeah I did like it. It's also the shortest which I appreciate. Not all of them have to be 2.5-3 hours.

I'm surprised you didn't like Skyfall, as that's pretty unanimously considered his "best". It wasn't my personal favorite of his, but I still liked it a lot.

100% agreed. Overall I would consider Quantum to be my favourite Craig Bond. Highest "rewatchability" for me, and engages me totally from start to finish.

(Casino Royale a close second or tied for first, depending on what mood I'm in, maybe. And maybe NTTD will be a contender for best too, over time—I've only seen it once, loved it.)

Quantum has such a compelling story, with a real emotional core (Bond's raw feelings for Vesper, his desire for revenge, paralleled with Camille's), propulsive pacing/editing, jaw-dropping action scenes. Visually striking set pieces and locales. Extremely hate-able villains. The Mathis storyline is very powerful... a gut punch—there's absolutely nothing in any of the other Craig Bond movies as emotionally resonant and real as the Mathis scenes in Quantum. Every scene with Felix is so well-written and acted, too.

Agreed that the next two films do not pay off in a satisfying way. Did not live up to the potential that was set up.

EDITED TO ADD: Based on how I felt about Skyfall and Spectre, I had low expectations going in to NTTD, but I must say I was really pleased with it. Eon reintroduced some “classic,” core aspects of the Bond mythos, in ways that felt organic, and earned. The way the storyline of Spectre was followed up, to me made Spectre seem better in retrospect.

No, I don't dislike Skyfall. I actually think it's the last good Bond film. Just in terms of following up on the story from QoS, none of the subsequent movies did a good job. So when I watch QoS, I'm dying to see what comes next and how things unfold. But then nothing ever really comes of it. At least in a way which satisfied me and felt like the true conclusion of what was hyped.

Skyfall was great but it felt more like a side step "monster of the week" episode than a true continuation of QoS.

Spectre felt like they just crammed a bunch of random crap in to get people to ooo and aaah. But it was totally forced and inorganic. And worst of all, boring.

And No Time To Die.....ooof. Yuck.

For some reason, I don't own any of the films from 1962-2002, even though I love most of the era (I also don't own Never Say Never Again, but I guess that is a pipe dream now). So, I finally caved and got the black box, even though I actually own two copies of three of the Craig films already (as individual Blu-rays and in the Craig UHD box) and I believe I've already seen the documentary on Epix, as well.

I went to Best Buy, my retailer of choice, where they have it for $179.99. However, I was able to price match Amazon and get $110 off the Best Buy price. I'm glad to finally own one of my favorite series of films to watch whenever I want. And yes, I am hoping for a UHD box for the 60th anniversary next year and I will buy it as soon as possible.

There's a multitude of standard BDs containing the unrated cut though, including the releases from Australia, France, Japan, and even the the UK re-release (i.e. the one rated BBFC at "15", as the initial British "12" disc is cut).

Are the 4K copies on Vudu the same as Apple?

Tempted by that price reduction on the Bond set but something tells me I should still hold off. Maybe there's a reissue on the way (or maybe not). I'd love to replace my current Bond collection, which is a messy patchwork of different sets/collections and homemade combos. With MGM in a state of limbo until the Amazon purchase is finalized, I don't foresee any new releases for some time and, frankly, I don't really want a "placeholder" collection.

They're liquidating stock to prepare for a 60th anniversary set. Almost certainly UHD. Buy this at your own risk.

A huge Anniversary release would've at least been hinted at. Unless they're keeping this a super secret it just doesn't sound like a reality.

First Sean Connery film I saw when released in the theater.

So I saw George Lazenby first, then Sean Connery and then Roger Moore. From this point, I saw all of the Bonds as released.

I saw three different Bonds for my first three films and these have always been my three favorites.

I thought Timothy Dalton was very good

But everyone I know wanted Pierce Brosnan to be Bond and in my opinion, he delivered big time.

A toast to Diamonds Are Forever…I also loved the theme song sung by Shirley Bassey.

Brosnan was an awesome Bond. It's just too bad that 3 out of his 4 films sucked.
