Yes -- the issue that when you jog (i.e., pause, fast forward, skip, rewind, etc.) the audio takes a few seconds to sync and start back up.

is there a place to grab the update to fix the DTS-MA problem for the 605?

The instructions are included in the zip file. The key thing is to set OPT1 for the CD input in the 605 and press the '+' twice as the FW is displayed then pressing 'CD' while the DSP version is displayed. Your current DSP version should be: DSPSR605:07730A After update: DSPSR605:08214A *All settings will default back to factory settings. Last edited by HDPlasma; 04-04-2008 at 01:31 AM. |

I know a lot of people have reported success with these dsp updates, but I am just afraid that it may introduce less obvious bugs later on. I know these Onkyo units don't cost a ton of money; but still way to much to brick one.
I like to believe there is a reason Onkyo USA hasn't released an official fix yet (hopefully due to rigurous QA testing) ... so I am going to give Onkyo USA some more time and patiently wait. Hopefully we'll get something soon. |

I hear ya. Just follow your own gut feeling man!
Other regions/countries have other specifications/requirements. Input voltages (220v vs 110v), AC frequencies (50hz vs 60hz), PAL vs SECAM vs NTSC .... Granted, none of these may actually have any impact on the DSPs, but you never know. What I personally would hate the most about brick'ing one .. is not necessarily the money to get it fixed .. but the time it takes to get fixed and/or having to be without it. I couldn't imagine watching BDs without my receiver. I once flashed a motherboard's bios (asus) with a foreign firmware update, and although everything appeared to work fine for a while, my PC started to freeze frequently. Never figured out why ... But anyway .... no worries man .... you're not alone! |

I wish this could work with the PS3 via HDMI. I tried it and couldn't get it to work, but maybe I am just not doing it right. If I am going to have to unplug the HDMI, plug up an optical cord and additional video cords, then replug everything, I would rather just take it to Onkyo and have them fix it "officially". I don't think I have ever owned a CD player with an actual optical out. I have always had a console or DVD player that played CDs, so I have never needed a "nice" CD player with an optical out.

It has to be done through an optical cable, and in the 1st slot.

It's also been menitoned that the UK DSP version will indeed be the US DSP version update but the US support division is still working out a deployment plan( ![]() Anyway, so far it's been 100% success for those who got the update to work. No bricked receiver's for those who can't get the update to work due to file burning or CD player issues used for the update. The key thing is to press the 'key' buttons(+, CD) while the FW/DSP version is displayed. Also, assigning CD input to OPT1 is a good idea. |

I did mine over the weekend with the UK files. It did not turn itself off when it finished. I waited 10 minutes, powered off, powered back on, verified new firmware, reran Audyssey. Works like a charm. ![]() |

I have an Onkyo 905 but no CD player. I can't get DTA MA with my Sony BD player at the moment but if I upgrade to a player later that decodes DTA MA internally that should solve the problem also, correct?
