I have all of the DVD's and Blu rays in alphabetical order, with exceptiions being movies that are sequels but do not follow the same title as the first film (The Dark Knight) and the bond movies are all under J

However i am seriously considering seperating the blu from the SDVD ony because having them together is starting to affect my buying habits, if i have one bluray followed by 3 DVD's and then another bluray, i'm more likley to upgrade those 3 DVD's in the middle just so i can complete the chain instead of upgrading a title that would deserve it more. Because honestly i've upgraded far too many of my SDVD's that weren't worth it just so i can have a string of blurys on my shelf

I also may move the bonds into B, but that is a major overhaul thats gonna take a solid weekend of free time, lol

I've been thinking about going the alphabetic route lately since the amount of movies is getting out of hand.

So maybe one weekend I'll re-arrange them by

1.Genre
2.Alphabetically

I like them being grouped by genre so that when I want to watch a comedy I can look at my comedies and when I want something else I go to that section.
Im with you. Although I just do genre. I also like being to browse "Sci-Fi", "Horror", "Action/Adventure", etc, etc.

One difference though is that if the films are a "set", aka trilogy, quadrilogy, then they get a separete shelf since we would committ to watching them all.

might sound odd... but i just have them sitting on my coffee table and on the floor next to it... and a bunch on the floor of my bedroom and upstairs tv room (and they're not in any order, the ones on the table)

i've been meaning to organize them but ive been too lazy to shop for furniture

I have mine in ABC and where ever sequels go. I have mine in order as:

Beer League
Black Mask
Caligula
Constantine
Dogma
Hulk
I Am Legend
The Incredible Hulk
Saw IV
Saw V

Given that Hulk and The Incredible Hulk are not sequels, I do not have them paired up.

Movies: 0-9A-Z
TV Shows: 0-9A-Z (Only because I don't have a proper Blu-ray case for my 2 seasons of Heroes, so they have to be separated from the movies)
PS3 Games: 0-9A-Z

All the above are ordered by series if applicable. ie. 007, The Chronicles of Narnia, etc.

PS3 Games: By ESRB rating. So far, I have 3 "Everyone to E +10 rated" games, 9 "Teen-rated" games, and 6 "Mature-rated" games.

those are both really interesting and terribly frightening ways of sorting. I'm not sure if I should admire you or run.

How are they frightening? I randomly organize my DVDs, but for Blu-rays I just do it the way I intended to.

I organize my movies by leading actor. All Bruce Lee go with Bruce, all Tom Cruise go with Tom

I've always done it by director (and to a lesser extent, genre). I want all my Ridley movies in one place, all my Nolan movies in one place, all my DC animated titles in one place, etc.

I can't believe all the confusing organizations in this thread; seems like more of a chore. But whatever floats your boat.

A-Z here.

I don't care if they're not uniform, and I'm thrilled that I don't care about it.

Dude, at least get a box for them. The floor is no place for blu-ray.

Mine are aphabetical with numbers first. IE: 2001: ASO, 2010: WMC, 300.
If a movie has a sequel title which is not alphabetical, I arrange those in sequence.

I am considering re-arranging movie titles where I can not clearly see the word "THE" with the second word in the title.
