i do it by genre, so I have all my wifes chick flicks together, all the war/spy movies together, superhero movies, Kids movies, comedies, etc.

Obviously to each their own, but I don't see how anyone could do alphabetical order, since there is usually a typically type of movie that I want to see (Comedy, Action, etc.), and having them grouped together gives me a better sense of what's available to me to watch out of that group.

Then absolutely I would recommend one (can't speak from personal experience on the Blu-ray version)

It's not that big of an issue with Blu-ray, but they were great for keeping DVDs from becoming scratched...... and yes, they make finding a particular movie quite easy......

They are pretty big, so if you want to "Display" your cases (not sure why people do that) you'll take up more rack-space in addition to the shelf space you're already eating up....

But like I said... they're great for organizing etc.

Anybody ever used anything like this?

S100_ProductColor_Black.jpgGROUP_selector100_3.jpg

I've got a computer in my home theater that runs a DVD organization program, and it wouldn't be too hard to set a few of these up. Would also save a lot of space.

I also have the Sony ES DVD changer and I understand where you are coming from, but the BD Mega Changer is a new beast. It automatically accesses Gracenote to download all disc data including the cover art. It is a simple matter of scrolling through the cover art in the media X-bar (same one as the Playstation) to select your movie. Selection is further aided with the option to sort your movies in numerous ways as previously mentioned (alphabetically, genre, director,...). This player is much more user friendly than previous versions (assuming you aren’t controlling them with a third party integration system, then your point is moot in all cases ).

My cases get stored - full stop (with the exception of my SteelBooks as they look beautiful on display). Luckily I don’t expect to need more than a couple of these units, but they can all be daisy chained for control purposes anyway.

This is valid weakness for anyone who actually re-watches special features. For me I watch them once, and then put them in the case for storage (they are still very easily accessible in the box, but I haven’t had the desire to re-watch any special features). If not, just buy more units.

Luckily my BD addiction is still fairly selective, so it’s taken me three years to fill one, and it will likely be another three after get number two filled (even with more TV series being released these days). So how many BD do you need to own to be considered a “Collector” then?

I used to organize them in alphabetical order by last name of the Key Grip... then I bought my 2nd disc and threw that idea out the window.

To those who own the Sony BDP-CX960 400-disc changer...

Is there any way you can post pictures of what the system looks like opened? And the interface used to select a disc? Thanks!

Question to everybody organizing their movies in alphabetic order.

Where do you put :

The Third Man (T or 3 ?)

The Seventh Seal (S or 7 ?)

The Fifth Element (F or 5 ?)

The Sixth Sense (S or 6 ?)

Also, would it make a difference to you if it was written "The 3rd Man" instead of "The Third Man" on the cover ?

Here is the interface:

I'm not sure why you want a picture of the machine opened up; it looks the same as any other Mega Changer when open. The interface is highly user friendly, and scrolls very fast while holding the button down (a few seconds to srcoll through 350 BDs). Some have complained that the cover art thumbs are too small, but if that is a concern then just use a third party control. I am still deciding on which one to go with.

Letter are letters, numbers are numbers would be what I say. If it was 3rd Man, under 3. Third Man under T.

The same way I organize my DVDs, music, and video games. I sort them in alphabetical order. However, I exclude articles like A and The. Another exception are sets, sequels, and the like.

I used to group the alphabetically, but grouped by genre.

These are some interesting ideas for organization. I think I'm gonna re-organize my Blus by studio (alphabetized within each studio) and see how that works. Then again, half of my collection is made up of Warner Blus and the other half is Paramount or Sony, so it wouldn't make too much of a difference.
