Been sorting mine by label too, although I go straight alphabetical within each label and don't bother with spine numbers. Have seperate sections for Arrow, Criterion, Kino, Shout, Warner Archive, etc, basically any boutique label that I own more than a handful of titles from. Love the uniformity. All my other "non-boutique" movies are also alphabetized, and I keep blu-ray and 4K seperated.

My organizing has gotten kind of out of control, haha. It basically mirrors the (many) categories I’ve divided them into on this site, which is broken down into formats, labels, genres, eras... what am I even doing

I actually quite like what you've got going on, not all that dissimilar from mine, albeit with a lot more categories and way more movies in general

What little organization I do have is as genre-based as I can get it. That goes for everything that's on shelves, otherwise I have a bunch of unwatched discs which are completely unsorted and disorganized, just lying around in piles of 10 to 20.

Alphabetically until sequels, then it’s in chronological order(ie: Avengers, then Avengers - Age of Ultron, Avengers - Infinity War, Avengers - Endgame)

I think I mentioned previously that I keep most of my Blu-Rays alphabetical, but that's begun to unravel in the past year. I don't have enough space in my room for a video shelf, so my movies have been relegated to a 3-drawer plastic container that you might use for folded clothes. When I take a movie out now, it usually ends up stacked on top, because there's barely enough space for me to move the drawers back and forth any more.

Mostly unorganized and in a state of disarray due to lack of space. So it's obviously getting tough to find stuff. And it's also an issue where I'll forget if I own some titles and may accidentally purchase something I already own.

I mainly collect horror titles, so I have a designated shelf for that genre only, which are arranged alphabetically. I have a separate shelf for my Criterion Collection discs, which I sort by spine number.

Alphabetically until sequels, then it’s in chronological order(ie: Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part 1 , Mockingjay Part 2).

4K's and Blu-rays are separate.

(1) By Director If I have two or more films by them
(2) Alphabetically (if only one film by a particular director)
* Anthology films with multiple directors are alphabetized under “Various”
(3) Television
(4) Music
(5) Box Sets
<All categories are alphabetized and further sorted in chronological order>

Collection is sorted as follows.

New Arrivals Bookshelf (positioned directly in front of the door to the movie room)
Family (bookshelf minus 1 shelf)
Holiday (1 shelf)
Comic Book (includes video game adaptations as well) (Bookshelf minus 2 shelves)
Action (Bookshelf)
Science Fiction (3 Shelves)
Fantasy (2 Shelves)
Comedy (Bookshelf minus 1 shelf)
Romance (1 shelf)
Drama (1 Shelf)
Thriller (1 Shelf)
Crime (1 Shelf)
Religion (1 Shelf)
Documentary (1 Shelf)
War (Half of 1 shelf)
Martial Arts (The other half of 1 shelf)
Television (Bookshelf)
Horror (Entire wall of shelves)

Each genre is sorted A-Z on a shelf, shelving unit, or multiple units (in the case of my horror collection). All video formats are intermixed within each genre. I only own a few VHS tapes, but formats include VHS, DVD, HD DVD, Blu Ray, Ultra HD Blu Ray.

When my collection was under 1000 total units I used to separate DVD's, Blu Rays, and Tv shows into their own sections but all genre's were otherwise intermixed and sorted only by alphabetical order. As the collection grew however it made sense to replicate a video store as far as sorting goes and so I went with the genre's that made the most sense to me and my collection. If I had additional shelves I'd likely separate Romance into Romantic Comedies and Romance, and would also like to add a "sports" and "Music" section as well... and although I don't purchase them anymore, I still have a number of wresting DVD's that I could put onto a wrestling section if I was so inclined as well.

I had to start separating my DVDs and Blu-rays because I could decrease the shelf height for the Blus and get a little more in that case. So Blu-ray and 4K discs are in alphabetical (with sequels after the first) and DVDs are alphabetical the same way on different shelves.

I changed a few times by now (specially when i'm borring and have nothing to do )
Started with TV Shows alphabetical and movies alphabetical, after that DVDs alphabetical an BR alphabetical, after that i don't remember , now is just all together (TV Shows, DVDs, BR) alphabetical, is the easy way.

The Special Box (like Avenger Phase One) and stuff like that are above my "video library", and my Star Wars collection it is separated in another piece of furniture .

Some dvds are in a binder with sleeves but many shows and some movies that only come in dvd are kept in cases mixed in with the blu-ray collection.

The way I organize my collection so far is by Studio and by chronological order, that being the release dates of the movie or show, not the release of the disk.
I don't have as big of a collection as some of you do so maybe in the future certain parts of my collection will be organized by genre and chronological order but for now this is working fine enough.

Last weekend I finished my Fox Studio Classics collection on DVD, all 41 titles. I may pull those out of the main DVD shelves and put those separately so they can all be together.

Though if I do that, I'll be tempted to do my Criterions in spine order (in separate Blu and DVD sections though).

Once upon a time, mine was all alphabetical by title in drawers and a chest. Some of that remains, but a lot of it's a free for all now. Hoping to find a better space someday.

I have all my regular sized blurays (tv and movies) done alphabetically, then I have the odd-sized boxes (tv and movies) in a separate bookcase and sorted mostly by height!
The fancy DVD boxes for TV shows (that have yet to be replaced by blus) are also mixed in with the odd-sized bluray boxes.
