Alphabetically, with the Criterions and Disney Classics and Disney/Pixars separate. Organizing by studio is nice if you have multiple titles from a studio. All different studios just make a mess of things.

I watch movies based on what mood I am in so I organize them by category:

Chick Flicks (for the wife)
Comedy
Action/Comedy
Action/serious
Adventure
Fantasy
Drama

You can see the mood goes form light-hearted to more serious - when I choose a movie to watch it keeps it easy.

I guess I got hooked on that because thats how it is at the video store

The only "best" way to organize movies is in the manner in which you find most appealing.

I do it by genre: sci-fi first, with the alien/space movies together, then the dystopian and post-apocalypse ones, followed by horror and creature thrillers. Then there are the action movies, with espionage thrillers grouped together and crime dramas together. Then there are the war movies. Then there are the fantasy and epics. Then the dramas. Then the westerns. Then the horror, with the more grotesque serial killer and torture movies grouped together. Then comedies are last. Christmas movies, documentaries, and music videos are all at separate shelves.

Alphabetical all they way baby ... with one exception: steelbooks have their own separate bookshelf. They are in alphabetical order as well.

I think I might need to do that with my steelbooks as I put them in with my other BD's.

I'd like to organize by genre, but with all of the different styles of packaging out there it really makes it difficult. I keep all of the odd shapped boxes to the the left of the shelf (eg: Band of Brothers, Batman Begins) followed by digibooks, then steel cases, then anything with a slip cover, and finally standard BD cases.

I do not have a lot of Blu's right now (under 20) But my scheme for Blu's will be the same as my scheme for DVD's.

Organized by category (Movie, TV/Cartoon, Anime, Stand-up comedy), and each category organized #'s first, then A-Z.

Although there are exemptions. Like "The Dark Knight" will go after Batman Begins. Once I finally buy BB in Blu. I keep putting it off!

Well, i don't own those so no.
Actually, it's alphabetical for me. If i arranged by hottest actress i'd only have a few movies. It's a sausage-fest on my shelf.

First I put them by Country or if it's Anime then it gets it's own section. After that I organize them alphabetically with numbers coming first. The same goes for my DVD collection.

I'm seeing some real weird methods. Right now mine are stacked on the floor with the newer ones on the top, until i get proper shelving.

Mine are first organized by studio so that all the logos on the spine line up, from there they are organized by actor/director, then from there they are organized alphabetically, thus I can never seem to find the movie I am looking for....

They're actually all alphabetized with criterions and digibooks together
