Just messed around with the organization of my Blus and discovered that none of the methods I was going to use were appropriate considering the small size of my collection. Genre didn't work because there are too many films that have multiple genres. Studio didn't work because I have 15 WB movies, 4 Paramount, 3 Universal and 12 other Blus with independent studios. I've decided to stick with alphabetical because not only am I used to it, but no other method works right now given my collection size.

Is there any way you can post pictures of what the system looks like opened? And the interface used to select a disc? Thanks!
I finally found you a picture of an open BDP-CX7000ES:

The interface is highly user friendly, and scrolls very fast while holding the button down (a few seconds to srcoll through 350 BDs). Some have complained that the cover art thumbs are too small, but if that is a concern then just use a third party control. I am still deciding on which one to go with.
that is SWEET looking!

I have my collection devided into a few different sections. Currently, all my BD's are in alphabetical order in 4 catagories. With those being: all, digibooks, music/concerts, and boxsets. I then have SDVD's catagorized by Disney, family, comedy, action/drama, baseball/sports, and music/concerts. most of my movies are kept in closed cabinet cases. Pics of my collection and cases are in my HT Gallery. Please, take a look and rate and leave comments. I will return the favor. Thanks!!

How do you arrange yours e.g genre, alphabetical and why did you choose this?
Also if you have some hd-dvds as well do you mix them or seperate?
At the moment I do it in the order I liked them, so I know where all the good ones are, also fun because I can keep changing it around, I don't have many right now, when I start really getting a bunch it will be alphabetical order like the rest of my DVD's.

Alphabetical. Digibooks first, then boxed sets like Generation Kill, 007, Planet Earth, Discovery Channel blus. Next comes my Criterion Collection, then regular blus follow in suit. Then TV shows & PS3 games. At the pace I'm purchasing new blus, I'm steady running out of room, fast. Looking for a new media cabinet.

Off topic, but any recommendations?

I split by TV/Movies, and then both are Numbers, then Alpha. Sequels go together in chronological order (but the Dark Knight is a tricky case--I don't have it yet, but it would probably go after Batman Begins). Bond movies go under "James Bond," then in chronological order by release.
I do the same thing, but I put my bond movies under "007." I have series together even if they names aren't alphabetical, so The Dark Knight is right next to Batman Begins, 2 Fast 2 Furious is next to The Fast and the Furious, and the Rambo series are all under "Rambo" even though First Blood looks out of place.

I have my DVD's separate from my Blu's. DVD's are kind of just thrown togeher, no real organization because I'm slowly converting them over to BD. My Blu's however are all sorted alpahabetically, and when it comes to a set like Harry Potter for instance, I put them in chronologically order and then move on to the next movie. I include TV shows in there too (ie. Lost seasons 1-5 are under "L"). I don't separate them.

I can only speak for myself, but even given my current collection size of 1,400 or so DVDs/Blu-rays (1,200+ being DVD) I have very little issues knowing where they are......

If I want to watch "Snatch" for instance........ I know what the spine looks like, I have a good idea of what stack it's in, and as a bonus, if I look for a movie long enough, I often find a different movie I'd rather watch at that time!!!

It's a lot to remember I guess (I have a terrible memory too) but I can find a DVD in my collection in under 60 seconds usually..........

With the smaller spines on Blu-rays, it would be a lot more difficult to find a particular Blu-ray if I had that many of them..... so one day I may need to come up with some sort of system.

I'm in the same boat as many others, I just organise them into alphabetical order (including TV Shows).
It does the job at the moment!
