I put them by studio. Really works for me, since I (usually) know exactly which studio releases which film, and at this point all my films are from either: Warner Bros./New Line, Fox, Paramount/Dreamworks, Universal, Sony or Disney - so the six largest companies (which makes it even easier).

Default Dumb question about organizing

i ordered a copy of the bourne collection from the UK last week, when i get it i will put it in my collection with the spine out like i do with all my other trilogys, but my question is this..... its really called THE ULTIMATE BOURNE COLLECTION, do i put it under U since its ULTIMATE or do i put it under B for BOURNE? beacause technically the movies are called Bourne Identity and ETC.

I would put it under "B" because of 'Bourne' just like I'll wind up doing with the ULTIMATE Matrix Collection (I'd put it under "M").

I can't believe people ask other people how to organize their collections.... just organize it the way you feel better when watching it.

Hey can you post some pics of the discs themselves when you get them? I wanna see how many rating logos Universal stuck on them. :P

EDIT: This is a serious question btw. I really wanna know.

You would be better off organizing by genre instead of alphabetical, its easier when you buy a lot of movies.

This is the perfect place to ask questions (even if they seem stupid to some) and gather information that many see as almost completely useless. I don't think any threads here are curing cancer, solving the problem in the Middle East, or putting a stop to our dependence on fossil fuels. We can post these questions freely, it's Blu-ray.com, we don't need to always post serious issues.

I'd put them under B. I also would take them out of the box if they come in individual cases.

I was looking at my shelf the other day and was wondering what will the 4th one will be called because right now they are in order, Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Ultimatium. Only V-Z left. The Bourne Vendetta? The Bourne ??? I seriously hope they don't use a word before U because it will mess up my order.

Keep the questions coming. This stuff is important to me, maybe interesting or amusing may be the better word. I have spent many hours organizing my CDs, DVDs and BDs.

I tried doing that on my excel list that I have for my colection and nearly went nuts. So many movies fall into multiple categories that it became nearly impossible.

I used to have my DVDs that way but went to alphabetical because some movies fall in more than one genre and would cause problems for me. Alien Sci-Fi or Horror, Aliens Action. Then how many genres, action, westerns, sci-fi, fantasy,...

Since I put them all in the ABCs it is easy to find and no question where a new one goes. My DVDs are divided into movies, concerts, TV series and documentaries. Right now BDs are just concerts and movies.

I think there is a big thread somewhere around here about collection organization... Anyway, I have it under "Bourne". In general, I go by the title not including articles (the an a) and sequels almost always follow the predecessor (Batman Begins-The Dark Knight, Die Hard 3-Live Free...).
