alphabetic, but I throw sequels together. For example: Batman Begins is followed by The Dark Knight.

I have a modest collection of about 40. But as it grows I will organize it like my DVD collection. By genre. Its easier that way. Since im a mood type person, if I wanna laugh, ill scan my comedy section. If i want good and serious, ill scan my drama section, etc. Since super hero movies have been dominant, I have a super hero section Works for me.

Default I also do my by production company.

I have been doing that since VHS was out. It look cool because everything
Is uniform and looks neat. It's funny I thought I was the only one that
does this. It's nice to know that other people use this method to organize
their collection.

Haha the ever-returning organisation topic.

I sort them by case: amaray and SteelBook.
Then those are sorted alphanumerically.

i have about 50 blu's now and im not bothered what order they show in my unit. However I do use a great piece of software called dvd profiler
http://www.invelos.com/dvdpro/Info.aspx as a great user database for all the films i own. If you havent seen it its very good. Just tap in the bar code number found on the back of the film and it then adds that film to your collection with front/back covers and full film specs including cast and crew information.

Mostly alphabetical, other then franchises. All 4 Die Hards are together other then splitting up Live Free or Die Hard from the rest, Bond movies are done under B versus splitting them up. Makes it easier to quickly browse my movies since I am beginning to get up there in quantity. (Around 160, but too lazy to add them all to the system since I'm buying chunks from Circuit City)

Same here! I don't have enough BD's to worry about keeping them alphabetized or by genre or by Digibook or by Steelcase (Did I miss anything?) I suppose as my collection grows I'll implement some form of organization.

It's the same with my rather sizeable LP collection. I kinda like sitting in front of my bookcase and persusing the spines to see what I might like to hear. Although when I can't find something and really want to play it, now that does peeve me off!

Alphabetical with me. when you have over 480 blu's/HD's you need to keep them that way.

I keep my library in alphabetical order with the numerical titles (such as 300) coming first. How does everyone else do the numbered titles?

I organize per genre: horror, action, adventure, Japanese anime, super-heroes, etc

Just to give an example, here are some movies that are put together on my shelf:
- Spider-Man trilogy, Hulk, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four (1&2), Ghost Rider, Hellboy (1&2), etc
- 300, Troy
- All Harry Potters, Brothers Grimm, etc
- All Resident Evils, Underworld movies,
- Mission Impossible Movies, The Rock, etc

Not always easy to categorize a movie in only one specific genre, but it helps when I want to pick up a movie within a certain genre, I have the choices immediately in from of me.

Since I've started using Collectorz.com Movie Collector software to keep track of my collection (see the link in my sig|), I'm thinking of changing and putting everything alphabetically ... although I'll keep movies, anime and TV-series seperated.

I do numeric and then alphabetic. Movies that start with numbers go first ala 300, 16 blocks, things of that nature.

Ok... here's how mine breaks down...

All are alphabetical within their respective categories...

Categories include:
Concerts/Live musical performances
Films (includies animation and documentary material as well)
TV Series

Any franchise material gets placed chronologically, where the first chronological installment of the franchise serves as its alphebetical place marker... example: Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are placed in that order using "Batman" as the alphabetical reference.

P.S. The term "alphabetical" by nature includes listing all numeric titles first in numerical order prior to using the alphabet.

^ same here.

-Comic Book Movies
-Comedies
-Action/Adventure
-Suspense/Drama/Action
-Westerns
-Horror
-Animated

its interesting to take a look at how you've got things organized and realize just how much you prefer one genre to others. My comedy/Drama section takes up alot of space.
