I agree completely....

Animatrix sits right after the Matrix trilogy for me (as one example) and El Mariachi/Desperado & Once Upon a Time in Mexico also are side by side....

Alphabetical for me. Of course, it's easier when you *only* have 92 SKUs...

Movies ordered alphanumerically (0-9a-z) by series but defaulting to title when there's only one, followed by TV series ordered in the same way.

I was also thinking about making Disney/Pixar / Anime / Other Animation categories, what do you guys think?

That's what I do. My Disney movies together (chronical except for sequels), Pixar together (alpha), other animation movies (alpha). Thinking of a seperate categorie for Dreamworks Animation. Not sure though.

At the moment, I organize mine by studio producing the disc (Miramax is within Disney; Dreamworks within Paramount).

Alphabetically (sorta)... All my As are together, all my Bs are together, and so on. This way everything is still somewhat alphabetical and easy to find but the major plus is when I add a title to my collection all I have to do is move the first and last title in each section rather than move all my titles over 1 spot. And to all you haters... Not only are my DVDs and BDs together but my VHS are mixed in as well... Dumm dumm dummmmmm!

Just changed them to that (although I'm keeping them all alphabetically, but I'm thinking about changing Disney and Pixar to chronologically). I was also thinking about separating Disney live action from Disney animation, but then both Alices in Wonderland would be separate from each other (which bothers me even though it's not a direct sequel) :S

About Dreamworks, I think that depends whether you get all/most of their releases or some of them (like me).

All DVD's in the living room.
All Blu's on separate black shelving in the bedroom.

My own version of genres:
Disney
All other animation
Fantasy
SciFi
Adventure
Historical Drama (Tudors, Elizabeth etc.)
Drama
Romantic Comedy
Comedy
Music/Documentaries
Yes, some things fit in two different categories, I just Choose.
For me, When I want to watch a movie, I look to the genre.
I would go absolutly nuts (more than I already am!) if I had to sort alphabetically

Each format is arranged alphabetically, with prequels / reboots beside eachother.

Batman Begins / The Dark Knight / Batman / Batman Returns / Batman Forever
CoN: Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe / CoN: Prince Caspian / CoN: Voyage of the Dawn Trader

Here's a question, Why is A Bug's Life not under "A" in the collection overview but located in the "B"'s?

Treat it the same way as "The" go with the word after it.

Default Alphabetical, keeps it organized.

All my movies are in alphabetical order, with the sequels side by side.

Blus and DVDs separated. My blus are alphabetical, but my DVDs are sorted by genre then alphabetically.

Normally they fill two huge shelves but right now the bottom shelves are empty up to about 4 1/2 feet off the ground, so my youngest (2) can't get at them. The discs normally occupying that space are stacked haphazardly on the tops of the shelves. Hopefully he'll lose interest soon and I can get everything back to normal.

Same here, except I separated out my Goonies box (massive) and two digibook releases because of size.
