In all fairness, it's been a while. I haven't seen one in at least 2-3 weeks.
![]() As for me, I stick with the basic alphabetical order. Anything else just seems a bit too anal (although I guess alphabetical order is still more snobbish than just throwing them all on a shelf randomly). I do, however, keep DVDs and BDs separate. Concerts, horror movies, and Julia Roberts movies are kept separate as well. |

Which probably works a great deal better with Blu-Ray {and the scratch resistant coating} than it did with DVD's and CD's amiright?
Me? I put them in alphabetical order {numbers first} then what I call 'special interest' Concert performances, T.V. shows, then DVD's at the end of the line. Logan |

i go by preference of individual movies
but incase of series i put the sequels/originals with the highest liked in my order like, TDK is first in mine, so Begins is 2nd otherwise Incredible Hulk would be second also keep the dvds and blus seperatly Last edited by Diesel; 02-23-2009 at 12:23 AM. |

I prefer to organize my blu-rays and dvd's alphabetically
however ive run into an issue with series that dont always share the same name, and never figured out what to do a perfect example is rambo technically the first film is titled "First Blood" whereas part 2 is "rambo first blood part 2" and then "RAmbo 3" now i could put first blood in the F's, and put rambo 2 and 3 in the R's, but i would hate to split up a series if i dont, how do you choose which letter they go on? would you just pretend first blood had rambo before it and put it in the R's before rambo 2 & 3, or would you put rambo 2 and 3 after first blood in the f's? this is going to get difficult once i start getting more of the bond movies... id like to keep them together but the names are all different so i dont think i can do that without going against my alphabetical organization any ideas? |

There's a huge thread on this subject, but it has been dormant for a while. Maybe it is time for a new one.

I don't have enough movies to really worry about as I can scan through my collection and find what I want in less than a minute. For those with large collections however, I can see that some level of organization is of signifcant benefit.
I would put Rambo "R" and First Blood "F", but I can see that would kinda mess up your grouping of sequals so to speak. Man, James Bond is going to be a nightmare on that score! ![]() Speaking of organization, I really should alphabetize my vinyl collection again. I haven't done that since I moved in here 9 months ago! I have about 800-1,000 with me (don't have an exact count)..I just keep buying more! ![]() John |

You've got to go numerical/alphabetical (example: "3:10 to Yuma" would come before "American Pie"). After that, series must be kept together, so all James Bond, or in your case Rambo, movies would be in one group. From there, it could get tricky, but I'd say that keeping series in chronological order would make the most sense. I mean "Quantam of Solace" should NEVER be before "Goldfinger." If I didn't do it that way, "The Teminator" would come after "T2: Judgement Day." That just ain't right!
That's the way I see it anyway. |

I do mine numerical/alphabetical as well. But, when it comes to sequels and such I group them together. So Batman Begins then The Dark Knight then it continues with the B's and so on. Like I have Casino Royale followed by Quantum of Solace.

![]() ![]() But back to Blu (and I won't mention the vinyl topic again). How would you file the Soundstage Concert BD's? Under "S" for soundstage or by artists? Or do you keep them seperate and apart as in genre of BD? John |

At first I had them arranged by actor, just because I had a bunch of movies with nicholas cage, christian bale, hugh jackman, john travolta, and will smith. Obviously that didnt last very long once my collection started to grow. Now I have them arranged loosely by genre; action, horror/serial killer, asian/martial arts, and fantasy. Within fantasy I keep all of the marvel comic movies together. And then the ones that don't fit in to any of those categories, I have separate for now until I get enough of one kind to start a new category.
If I had your set up, I would put all bond films under B or under numbers for 007 but I wouldn't split them up. The same with Rambo I would put them all under R. Nobody actually calls it firstblood everyone just calls it Rambo. Last edited by brewp13; 04-04-2009 at 03:07 AM. |
