How do you organize your collection?

I tried several times to make peace with the guy, but he's so full of himself that he turns everything into a blasted argument. I gave up over 2 years ago. It also didn't help that he kept thread crapping on my reviews on another forum.

I do mine alphabetically except for franchises which are in order of release date, and for right now because my blu-ray collection is so small blu-rays and dvds are together, but not for long .

I've tried that a few times as well, but it never works out. Some movies are just too hard to label. I also tried doing some movies by actor, like putting all of my Adam Sandler movies together, but that didn't work out either. So I just keep them sorted alphabetically, except for my Disney & Pixar movies. I have my Disney movies sorted chronologically and my Pixar ones alphabetically both at the end of my shelf.
When I started buying Blu-Rays I kept them separate from my DVDs, but now that I have a lot of them, I just keep them mixed together.

I dunno if there is a "correct" way, but I go numerically, then alphabetically.

(500) Days of Summer is first because of the parantheses, then 2001, then 300...

Actually, it's the exact way that this site organizes them too.

Correct, I don't do it based on numerical value. I only have 2 movies that begin with numbers, but I have 10 thing I hate about you first, and then 500 days of summer, because 1 comes before 5. For my Dvds I have 28 days later followed by 28 weeks later filled by 3:10 to Yuma followed by 8 mile.

Put your collection in the blu-ray database. It will alphabeticalize your collection for you.

Criterion by spine #, all other movies alphabetical until the end of my bookshelf where basically the T's onward as well as TV Series are sort of haphazardly placed on top of the movies on my bottom shelf. Need a bigger bookshelf! Maybe I should stop buying so many movies....nahhh

I'm organizing mine by directors. Similar directors are next to eachother, which means Tarantino together with Rodriguez, Wilder next to Lubitsch, etc. There are a few exceptions, like I put all the Criterions sorted by spines in one place, same with the MoC and the BFI editions.

I do not keep Criterion titles seperate, they go in the proper genre, although most fall into the Foreign Films section.

I organise my blu's by director.
(Tarantino, Wachowski Bros, Peter Jackson, Kubrick, Besson, etc...)

And by genre: children's movies, adventure, science fiction, superheroes ...

I also started collecting bollywood blu-rays last october. (I own 58 Indian blu's now) And I organise these films in the order I purchased/viewed them. Since I previously never watched any Indian movies organising these blu's in purchase/viewing order helps me to track the progress of my new addiction.

By studio and then by title. This easily makes the most sense and the spines much up so much better.

I first have all my "naked" (slipless) blus alphabetized.

Then, blus that have slipcovers by studio and alphabet.

Then I have my Criterions (alphabetized)

Finally I have my slipped imports, box sets or limited edition type packs

And TV/Mini series end the bunch out! Whew!!

I have my Blu-Rays and DVDs separately. Both are Alphabetized. My Blu-Rays (as dvd's)are alphabetical by movie, then tv series then Disney movies. At the end of my Blu's I have the ones I purchased from blockbuster still in the dvd cases waiting for me to order replacements.

Yep, the only thing I do different is that my slipless BDs are in binders. Our system makes the most sense.
