Thinking of putting all the Ultimate Avengers team together (Live action/animation), but I don't know if I want to put them under "U" or "A"! Thinking of doing that for Justice League, too!

One set of storage shelf/cubs under my proj screen that holds ~275
Under/front of that, another shelf holding criterions, Acad Award for best picture, and films from pre 1980 (another ~60 or so)

Then I have some more in a box that I got at BB Video going out of business that I haven't bought replacement blu cases for

All sections alphabetized

For the first time ever I am alphabetized, well mostly, TV shows are alphabetized on top of my rack and everything else is below and alphabetized.

I decided to leave a few inches on each shelf for a change, normally I like each shelf packed full but if you get new blu-rays and they are alphabetized on a full rack then you gotta adjust each shelf dang near every time you get a few new titles. How do those of you will larger collections do this?

BTW I was gonna separate music and documentaries as well but I decided to just go ahead and alphabetize em all. It just happened to work out that all my TV shows fits on top of my case. If it was not like this id likely have alphabetized everything.

Am I the only one who doesn't organize his collection?

I don't often have an itch to watch a specific film, so I just grab something that I haven't watched in awhile, whatever catches my eye first.

Mine are all sorted by genre and alpha within the genre. I keep my Criterions and Imports seperated from everything else. I used to just do alpha but it becomes too difficult when you have a large amount so we switched it to genre.

That's probably a good thing. It fits your funky taste.

Mine are alphabetical, both my BD's and DVD's. Just makes it easier for me to find something I want to watch. Now my CD collection is another story, done by genre and then alphabetical. Which let me tell you is no easy feat considering I have around 500.

My collection isn't that big. I've got my TVs to one side, along with my music BDs. The rest of my collection I actually went chronological. So it's Battleship Potemkin to Watchmen.

Jeff Goldblum could use my collection to demonstrate chaos...

Although, since I'm, at times, having difficulty finding certain movies. I have decided I'll organize my collection when I'm moving to my new apartment next week, alphabetically or release year - I haven't decided yet.

Alphabetical by shelving.

We have a large oak headboard to out bed that has drawers and such so it is about 10 inches deep. I put my boxed sets and off sized stuff alphabetically.

I have a smaller shelf area where i put my digibooks alphabetically.

I also have a larger shelving unit where I put the standard sized cases alphabetically.

I have to stay with a standard alphabetical system so my wife can find them. She is not familiar with them enough to know studio or year of release.

I also keep an alphabetical list in excel for all the movies. Color coding each one based on what sheving area it is on. Again making it easier for my wife to find things lol.

I don't organize them, I Keep them in a draw and out of sight, I don't treat them like ornaments and have them on display. Just my preference I guess.

Mostly alphabetically. There are some sequels that place together though. I also prefer to place all the number type movies in numerical order first. (i.e. 9, 28 Days Later, 300 ect.)

Recently my shelves got full so I pulled out all my Asian/martial arts films and alphabetized them on a different display. Now the shelves are full again and I don't know what to do. LOL
