Everything is alphabetical. Makes sense and it's simple.

Top shelf of each bookcase (I have 2) are movies that have more than 1 and are alphabetical. For example the terminator movies or Alien movies and at the end of bookcase 2 I have all my disney blus or animated blus in alphabetical order. Shelf 2 on each case is just regular blu-ray cases in alphabetical going across to the second shelf, one shelf ends with G and the Shelf next to it picks up with H then it goes back to the third shelf of the first case with the end of the alphabet. Then I have a little section after Z that are movies I want to watch soon. Then picking up on case 2 shelf 3 I have steelbooks in no order and digi books in no order then slip covers in Alphabetical. Then shelf four of case 1 starts T.V. First is blu-ray tv then dvd tv all alphabetical. Then the bottom two rows of each case are all dvds.

Box sets I have displayed on a Benno Ikea Tower or on another media case. I also have a top shelf on the other media case for super hero blu-rays.

My main cases are IKEA Billy Bookcases like AlandoBlanco on youtube has.

Sorry for the long post! I like having my collection organized and I keep flipping around. Eventually I might have it all just by alphabetical but I like keeping things separate like steelbooks and box sets.

Films (alphabetical - regardless of box set, steelbook, digibook, etc.)
TV (alphabetical)

Which is quite different from how I have them organized on this website. I don't know why, but it just helps me to have it this way for blu-ray.com.

does anyone take the trilogies (i.e. XMen, Spiderman, Karate Kid, and so on) out of the box and just display them individually?

What would be the point of having the box then?

I have lots of box sets and triple features. I bought all my blus from August 2012 up to the present. all 400+ blus are still unorganized because I am still planning to add more. a lot more. and I'm also going to move to a new place.

But I do intend to sort out my titles based on packaging first. The Box sets/Digibooks and collector's editions will be sorted alphabetically then the Steelbooks, then TV Series, Disney Animation then triple features and lastly the single titles/double features will be arranged alphabetically.

You've bought over 400 in 5 months? How many have you actually watched?

well in my case I buy the boxsets because they are usually cheaper than buying them individually. I would store the box away and put the single blus on the shelf, just wondering if anyone else does this.

I do this as well. I take off (and store safely elsewhere) slipcovers and slip boxes so that they all look uniform.

My collection is alphabetical split up by type of case. Steelbooks, digibooks, digipaks, standard case, etc. This way it looks nice and neat and I can easily find what I mm looking for.

I'd say around 100+ of it already. Weekdays I do 1 movie after work and law school then on the weekend I watch as much as I can.

Most of those purchases were made when it said that they were at their lowest prices so I bought a lot of titles. For black friday I think I had close to 100blus bought.

Does anyone have the Amazing Spider-Man come after the Raimi trilogy or under "A" on its own?

Default My Masterful Organization

How do I organize my Blu-rays? How you're supposed to, of course!

All alphabetical (so I can find anything within seconds) and without regard to packaging:

Movies
TV shows
Music
Non-fiction / Misc.
Fitness

Since I now own Entourage Complete and a few nice SteelBooks, I may set them on top of the cabinet. Don't think I have enough space to display those "in-line"...

In my collection list here, I created categories for the above and also: Enroute and Wishlist! (with exclamation mark so I can list them at the end).

I instinctually had it after the Raimi trilogy and never noticed it, TBH. However, after reading your post, my OCD kicked in and I just moved it to the A's.

I have a bunch of different organizational systems going on and it's also all over the place.
Some studios are grouped together such as Criterion, Arrow, Masters of Cinema, Second Sight etc but I've got Dawn of the Dead & Day of the Dead in my Romero collection elsewhere which leads to my next organizational system which is grouping all of a directors work together and organizing those collections by year of release.

I have some steelbooks displayed outside my book cases but I also have some on my shelves because I haven't yet got enough room to display them all not that I really intend on doing that. I have recently decided to put certain slipcovers together. Ones that don't belong to an important studio that I've collected many titles and there's no other films in my collection from the director of that movie. If they do belong to one of those studios and I have more than 1, especially 2, they go elsewhere but the odd ones out mostly get grouped together where they belong in either slipcovers or regular amarays.

I keep tv shows together unless they are an anime series in which case they go in my animated section where western and eastern animation co-exist. I try to keep "collections" and box sets together in a section but I've also dedicated the tops of both bookcases to box sets.

I have most of my foreign cinema in it's own section which is mostly made up of asian cinema.

To be honest I ran out of room ages ago but I'm about to move so I haven't bothered to buy another book case and won't until I've settled into my new place. I've got enough blu-rays and dvd's to fill 5 more shelves when I finally get another book case and I've just been piling them infront of my dvd's which are located at the bottom if a box set isn't up the top where blu-ray and dvd co-exist if they're a good box set.

Ones that don't fit in with anything just get slipped where they fit so I can save as much room as possible.

Once I get a whole new book case I'm sure I'll try to come up with some kind of organizational system but to be honest, I don't think that there is one which can suit everything. Every system is flawed if you're concerned about anything other than things being alphabetical.

It drives me nuts that there are titles in the whole "studio" system that should be in others. For example, I own plenty of asian movies from Criterion that should be in the asian cinema section, same goes with the fact that there are slipcased criterions that could go in the slipcover section, same goes for almost all of my arrow titles seeing as they all have slipcases, and while we're on the topic of arrow, I've got some of their steelbooks which can't go with the rest of them because they have to stay in the steelbooks.

If I was to arrange everything alphabetically, or even make a definitive decision on what organizational system I'm going to go with, I would have to kill myself and take you all with me just to make the frustration end. Again, that would be IF I made myself come up with a specific organizational system. Because then I'd be going against my own decision if things weren't working out, which they wouldn't, because like I said, EVERY system is flawed. I have no idea how any of these people who are really OCD sleep at night when they actually make a decision of how they're going to organize their collection.

I'm confusing and upsetting myself just thinking about all of this. It's easier to have a collection of different systems and keep things messy. I can't say "well, that HAS to be there. But it doesn't work. HOW CAN I MAKE IT WORK? WHY CAN'T I MAKE IT WORK?! THIS DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT?! WHAT WILL MY PARENTS SAY WHEN THEY VISIT?!!!"
Everything is ambiguous. My collection is an enigmatic monster from the deep covered in lube and ready to take charge. But what's this? You need me to make my mind up before you can do it? Well that isn't going to happen. You can go back to the depths of the swamp and die, you annoying piece of shit.

... Sorry, just having a potential crisis in my mind haha

More pressing is Batman Begins placement in relation to its sequels placing.

But yeah, one giant alphabetical row. I may separate Criterion releases and maybe TV shows when I get some more, but that's up in the air.

by studio in alphabetical order...mostly. I tend to group those with similar spines like Sapphire Series, WB releases, etc. I also have the tendency to group movies by the same director like Fincher, R.Scott and Scorsese.

It's basically all over the place...but I guess it's easier to organize when you only have less than 100 blus.
