Same here: Purchased Resident Evil 4-pack, AvP 2-pack and Toy Story trilogy in boxsets. I display them individually since all of them are your standard Blu case packaged into a box.

Now there are some exceptions: I have left the Austin Powers trilogy as is simply because they are in slim cases and the box is snazzy.

Basically if it is just the standard releases bundled together I will throw away the box and display individually.

Regarding the thread (not sure if I have already mentioned this previously), but I organize my collection by Movies (Digibooks/Amaray/Steel all together) and the by TV shows alphabetically with sequels going together: Batman Begins (under B), Dark Knight, Dark Knight Rises. I have also thought about combining the Terminator films with the Sarah Connor Chronicles as I have done with the Simpsons and X-Files DVD sets (placing the films where they should be in the timeline)

Some other notibles:
- Prometheus/Alien Quadrilogy/AVP/AVP 2/Predator/Predator 2/Predators (sorted under A, may sort it under P for Prometheus)

- A Nightmare on Elm Street Boxset/ANoES remake/Freddy vs Jason/Friday the 13th Boxset (please WB )/Friday the 13th remake (sorted under A)

- The Avengers/Captain America/The Incredible Hulk/Iron Man/Iron Man 2/Thor (sorted under A)

- X-Men: First Class/Wolverine/X-Men/X-Men 2/ X-Men 3 (sorted under X)

- Bond 007: Sorted by 007 which conveniently makes it first in my collection. Films are sorted chronologically.

Hope this gives you some idea of my collection setup.

I have all my DVD's alphabetized, then DVD boxed sets (movies), then DVD television shows. Blu-rays are strictly alphabetical at this point, as I don't have enough to warrant separating them out like the DVD's. I also use the "My Movies for iPhone (and iPad) Pro" apps. Best paid apps I've ever bought in my life.

I have box sets and digibooks on one bookshelf that is out of kids reach. Next to it I have a taller bookshelf, adult themes up high, Sci-Fi below those, Disney next, then super heroes, then family/kids flicks

I completely understand the dilemma; I'm constantly battling with this too...

For now, I keep "Batman Begins" under "B" and the two Dark Knight titles under "D" next to each other, of course, and do the same with the latest Bond films -- that is, "Casino Royale" goes under "C" and "Quantum of Solace" is under "Q"...I will do the same with "Skyfall" when I buy that on Tuesday, going under "S"...

Though I still have reservations about keeping these all together because they ARE part of a franchise; the thing is, with my DVDs, if there was one title out of a bunch as part of a series, it seemed weird to separate it -- in other words, for example, with the "Exorcist" films: I have them all on DVD, save for "Exorcist II: The Heretic" (widely regarded as one of the worst films ever made, up there with "Grease 2"), and they are kept on the shelf as follows:

Exorcist, The
Exorcist III, The
Exorcist: The Beginning
Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist

The thing is, with the release of the series' second prequel, "Dominion," if you're going in strict alphabetic order, this would go under "D"...however, this just seemed weird to me to separate because it was ONE title out of a bunch that would be separated from the other "Exorcist" films...

See what I mean?

Thus far I'm still sticking with straight alphabetical order. Getting closer and closer to having my current shelf completely packed. When that happens, I may utilize a smaller bookshelf and pull out my disney movies or something.

By packaging first. So box sets up top, then special packaging below that. Steelbooks next, then regular blus below that. All alphabetized respectively. Movies, tv shows and concert films separate.

I have 4 sections in total:
Movies (alpha by title) although All Bond movies fall under B (in the case of series i go by the first ones title)

Actors (alpha by surname..movies i buy based on these actors being in them sorted by year of release: Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen)

Directors: (alpha by surname and then by year of release. Director supercedes actor when the two happen to overlap)

TV shows: any tv series i have alpha by title

I've only been collecting for just under 2 weeks, took me a while to make the step up from DVD. I only have two blu-ray titles at the minute but I intend to set up a 'movie room', kind of like a home cinema, with posters and other movie themed items.

I shall post pictures showing my progress.. when I begin of course.

I will probably organize them in alphabetical order

- Movies
- Television
- Other (not sure what else I'll actually purchase to be really honest. I don't keep sport blu-rays or documentaries)

Right now, I have it organized as follows:
Special editions (Harry Potter UEs, LOTR extended, etc.)
TV shows
Criterions
Trilogies
Regular Blus

All are alphabetized. I'm considering switching over to sorting them by release date instead. Either way, the triple packs are a pain in the rear to sort. I usually just sort them by the first movie in the collection.

I own mostly costume dramas, so mine are arranged according to time period (ancient, georgian, etc) and then alphabetically. I keep all the romcoms and action movies together, too.

I have no real order to it, the ones I've just watched or gotten back from someone tend to be on top or on the left side. I guess this disorganization is how I've ended up with a few doubles.

I used to do it alphabetically by genre when I had a lot of dvds, but I'm not too organized now
