Default To the people who own or have seen the Orphanage...

I have a picture quality issue. This movie has gotten raves by critics and viewers alike on blu-ray, but ...

...On PS3 over HDMI to a Sony KDS60A3000 - Over 40 Blu Rays owned and watched and what I see is ...

that during some darker scenes, like when the mother is in the cave looking to see who/what her son was speaking to, I get this reddish black foggy area where it should be pitch black. Almost like a fine macroblock - like during early DVD days when the remastering was bad.

I never noticed it with any other blu-ray and I've calibrated my TV with DVE disc. Any ideas if this a setting (black correction? over contrast?) on the TV or a disc issue or what?

There is also an issue with a blu hue in some of the parts of the film. Most noticiably at the end when the mother is underneath the stairs. All of this has been discussed in The Orphanage Thread (it's somewhere in here)

I didn't notice it when I watched it but several here have noted that they saw the same thing. Like Blu Titan mentioned, it's discussed in the main thread for the movie.

I think this is the thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=46904

I tried the search function as well, I swear!

Thanks for the link owa, I see I'm not the only one and that's enough for me. I wonder how it was missed by "official reviewers" that gave it 4.5 out of 5, etc.

Iv'e heard of some poeple getting these hues, but I never did see nay of that. Just the trusty DTS bomb which is soon to be fixed.
