A Dolby patent:
https://www.google.com/patents/US20120321273 "The metadata may provide information relating to: characteristics of a reference display used to edit the video data, characteristics of the environment in which the reference display is situated, characteristics of the edited image (e.g. luminance and gamut), characteristics of the viewing environment in which the display of the display subsystem is situated, etc. In some embodiments, at least some of this information may be determined at the studio during post-production processing of the video data. Parameters describing the environment in which the display of the display subsystem is situated. Such parameters may include, for example, ambient luminance and/or tone or color temperature. Viewing environment metadata 225C may be used to guide processing of video data at block 208 and/or display configuration at block 210." ![]() |

Given any kinks are worked out and there being a good degree of precision with them working in tandem, that would seem to be an ideal consumer friendly

Speaking of Color (or colour, as some of my friends prefer spelling it), cutting edge content creators are now beginning to use ICtCp as a working space, for the chroma scaling is perceptually hue linear and it helps with projects involving gamut reduction.

Not necessarily an HDR home deliverable, but before I forget, as I’ll be away at NAB during the series premier, a tie-in to the previously posted pic of the person I quoted – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...n#post13434815

b.t.w., the ‘M’ part ^ of the newest under the radar color science acronym stands for millions, as later alluded to by Timo, the Dolby Staff Researcher. |

I just recently purchased a 65" LG C6 oled and am coming from an2016 Vizio P series. I have all my components running through my Onkyo nr656, which I also just received. I have cable, Xbox one s and Oppo 203 all connected to the receiver and have a single hdmi cable running through my C6. I know LG recommends UHD deep color to be set to on, but can I leave this setting on all the time without any harm? I want to be able to have all my components running through my receiver and would prefer if possible not having to turn deep color on every time I go from watching a movie to cable and vice versa as I often like to check the status of a game quickly then go back to the movie. On my P series, I did not have to have deep color on at all, so I am a bit confused about it. Any insight if any negatives about leaving it on the all the time would be greatly appreciated.
