It's still available in other regions for cheap. You can grab the Italian release for $7 bucks (no eco-case either).

EDIT: Just noticed this seller doesn't specify shipping costs to the U.S. and you have to commit to buy before you get the total price. Amazon Germany has it for the same price and that shows "Collector's Edition" on the cover. Plus I'm in Germany right now, so maybe can find it in a store and have my German gf translate the extras from the back cover. I'm assuming it's the same as the U.S. release?

Here's the Amazon.it link btw (it's currently not added in the db). I'd opt for the Italian release since it comes with no rating logo's unlike the UK & German BDs.

I know what you did last summer has been re-released by Mill Creek (in Canada anyways).

Oh yeah, I did that for the mono with The Terminator and the HD DVD transfer of the Thing with the lossless from the BD.

I wouldn't think so. Generally, they are the same in terms of PQ/AQ. Unfortunately, Mill Creek does not usually provide any extras.

Most, if not all, of the Sony re-issues of late have dropped lossless audio along with features, see Blue Thunder and Anaconda. Haven't bothered to check any video reviews, too busy hunting down old Sony versions of titles I'm interested in.
