very true, but for the moment it's OOP.

I was glad I found a copy at BB. I've been doing director deep dives during lockdown, watching every title that I haven't seen from various major directors. Doing Stanley Donen this month. Did Billy Wilder last month and Douglas Sirk the month before.

You can still get this as part of the Frank Sinatra collection for $21.95 on Amazon

Remember when offensive could also mean funny? Sadly too many do not.
I know it's OOP right now, but what about one of the greatest films of all-time, Pulp Fiction? I wonder if/when that one comes back, if it will be permanently edited due to the many racial remarks?

I got the 9 film Mel Brooks collection for 55 from Best Buy and it’s still available for now. Not a bad deal. Don’t want to risk missing out

Well, to be honest I would grab everything that's not politically correct if you don't already have it. So, that means Gone with the Wind, Blazing Saddles, etc.

0.00% chance Pulp Fiction stays OOP. It’ll be available soon and in 4K. Way too much money to be made on that title for it not to be released in its entirety.

"HAIR" the movie has a pretty big UN-PC black song (though done tongue-in-cheek for fun at the time, would be completely lambasted these days), plus it has abundant nudity, LSD use and drugs, and was still only rated PG (before PG-13 existed). It would definitely get an easy R now.

There are plenty of films that are not politically correct that would never get made today. My point is that if you want any of them get them however they are available whether that be VHS, DVD, or BD.

D'Jango Unchained has more to worry about than Pulp Fiction at the moment in that regard. I doubt anything will come back edited though, if it has to edited it will just not come back.

If we really start down that sloop, then Tarantino's whole catalog has problems. But I feel racist stuff played for comedy will be first to go. More seriously ****ed up stuff will get a early pass cuz it doesn't glorify of make fun of.

I believe all this taking out racial $hit in past movies is paranoia. We still have our First Amendment Rights in the US and aren't controlled by a dictator yet even if some people would prefer that. Now if films like the Tarantino movies were under Fox and now controlled by Disney, that would be more of a big Fu*kin problem. Luckily his films aren't. I'm more worried about plenty of other titles from Fox including Fight Club. Luckily I own most of the Fox titles I want but want more Fox titles to come to 4K.

Big corporations are controversy-averse, and in most of these cases, they've been self-policing. I very much doubt activists would target a movie starring a black actor satirizing the fact that black actors never starred in classic westerns (well, except Sergeant Rutledge). It would be a private company making the decision not to sell a product they own the rights to, so nothing to do with the First Amendment (as much as it may suck).

The crudeness of Blazing Saddles alone might deter Disney from rereleasing it just as sex and profanity could discourage them from reissuing many of the R-rated films in the Fox catalog.

If it gets to the point where they have self censorship with films then there would be an outcry. People will vote with their wallets and protest. It would be like Nazi's destroying art.

This is one of the biggest misunderstandings about the First Amendment. It says: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Congress. Or more broadly, the government at its different levels. A private company suppressing art may be censorship, but it has nothing at all to do with the First Amendment. The FA only concerns what the government may not do.

It sounds like you're talking about self-censorship of big movies, or on a big scale. But occasional self-censorship goes back a long way. Warner Bros. has suppressed The Devils being released on BD/DVD in the U.S. for over a decade (they only let BFI release a DVD version in the UK, when BFI would've preferred to release it on BD too). They announced a DVD release of the "Censored Eleven" Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes cartoons in 2010 and that never happened.
