I picked up D.O.A and Best Laid Plans for $6 total. Checking Amazon.ca appears they are OOP but not 100% sure

Wow, it also looks like there's no standard case edition (yet), probably why it goes for so much. Glad I picked it up 2 years ago.

Damn, I love this film but if anyone wants to give me $140 they are welcome to it.

Usually when Amazon has an outlandish price I check ebay to see if it's worth selling (and most of the time, I'll find that it "really" goes for $20, rather than $140). But in this case, none at all are available on ebay.

In either case, unless there is an issue with the rights for it to be OOP it's probably just temporary. An oversight. They digibook is finally gone and they just haven't bothered with the standard edition yet. Of course no telling when (or if) they ever correct this oversight. But it's probably similar situation to Sorcerer.

It looks like the most recently sold copy on ebay went for $24 including shipping on 3/7/18. Average price since January is about $18. Now that it's out of print it's really anyone's guess what it would sell for. Could be $30 could be $100.

Thanks to this thread I bought a new copy of Papillion just sitting on the shelf of a local Movie Trading Company. Didn’t plan on picking this up yet but better safe than sorry.

I saw "Papillon" at more than one 7/11, and granted that was probably a year ago, and a lot of 7/11s have restocked and/or entirely stopped carrying movies, but if you're interested in getting a cheap copy, it's probably worth stopping in the next time you're nearby your local, if they still have a movie rack. I have never seen anybody buy any movies at 7/11, so you could easily get lucky.

It's a bootleg anyway. This is confirmed thanks to at least two industry insiders speaking up.

Wow. You'll defend a bootleg. Shameful. They both basically said that the rightsholder is a nightmare to deal with, and that on official release is coming outside of the US. To try and defend this bootleg and put down their comments, you'll put it down to a conflict of interest.
